I haven't been on the forums in a while partially due to work and also because of the lack of news flow regarding the game, however I would like to discuss with the loyal followers my ideas for te campaign/single player mode.

I've always wanted a game where you truly worked your way up the ranks in order to become a professional golfer. Links got half of this right allowing for a fully customizable tour including sites, format, cut lines, money, and trophies. I am hoping this will also be possible with Perfect Golf. I think it would be great to create any Amateur or Professional golf tournament around the world. I'm curious to see how far perfect golf takes this.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Nothing yet... but like you, I too would hope several formats are supported.

Not sure, Dave. PG Country Clubs would serve as "guilds" or "groups" (as in TWO): Loose associations of players united under some common motto. My TWO groups were "The Stoners Club" ("Score Low and Stay High") and the "Superpack". Others were called German Golfers, Golfers for Christ, Revenge of the Dodo, The Masters (noelw1969), US Veterans, etc... All these groups would usually conduct daily tournaments for their group members exclusively, either 1 or 4-day competitions. There also was a group season feature, but nobody ever understood how the rankings were compiled, so groups stopped having them quickly. And there were also GvG's, Group vs Group tourneys, were two or more groups synchronized their daily group tournaments to compare their best scores against each other.

There also was a group "Champions League" towards the end, run by a conglomerate called FIOGA, wherein during a season of 3 months 16 groups would compete against each other for points. All of this was voluntary and not at all supported or initiated or facilitated by EA - who basically did not care.

mhammer113, same as Links and TWO, where members of the community, with time, co-operated to create their own leagues, seasons, ladders and challenges, I suspect that PG will follow suit and that it will be up to players to go after that extra fun that these can provide. PG can and should support them by gathering and making available good player stats about every aspect of the game and by giving country clubs as many tools as possible to challenge their players (Like rounds where the player must select 3 clubs of their choice and a putter to compete, or where irons only and no metal woods may be used etc...). PG also announced that they plan to hold daily and weekly online tourneys for the global player base. Beyond that, it will be up to the players and the community, though, to take it to the next level if so they want.

As for a career mode, this is still early days. This and a lot more could become true, but certainly not all at once right from day one, instead bit by bit over time. But first things first: First we need a good game.

Something I hope PP does is to have a very good IN-Game Chat system... I don't mean one that allows you to see the chatting of every single player that is online at the time, I mean private chat between the players that are in a particular game... If I setup a game and I have from 2 to 4 players in that game, I want to be able to just chat with them only, during our game...

Of course their are many more features that I feel PP needs to implement to make the online experience user friendly, I will just wait until we see a game first...

One thing that TWO really blew was that their way of setting up a game between players IE: Game Lobby, was non-existent.  You practically had to email someone just to get them to join a game... Which is why I only tried to play 1 game with a friend, their system Sucked!!!   Yes, that is the word that best described it  Sucked!!!

Like it or not Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08 PC had a very good Game Lobby and In-Game Private chat system... Period.. So something along those lines...

Like many aspects of this game, they are going to be compared to TW 08 by more of us then you think and they will need to be as good or better then many of those features....

True, the MSN gaming zone was quite handy, for almost any type of game...

I was also wondering if it was possible for an open world game chat system... something similar to those WoW/Elder Scroll type chats. You won't need to load up a game, but you could enter the chat from the menu to see who was online and search usernames etc.. don't want to be found, change your profile golfer you aim to use, thus allowing you to be around for games with various groups you join. For example, I may decide to play UK_Players on Monday evenings and create a profile golfer named UK_IanD, but Thursdays may see me compete in the PGA_Tour, and I use my other profile  PGA_IanD to compete and record data.

The chat would allow me to use simple strings to aid searches for users, groups etc, even blocking and ignoring users (and those many spamming sessions that occur within those games too, which is the negative side of this suggestion). If I wanted to send a direct message to a certain user or user groups, then it would allow fascilitating games alot quicker and easier.

I'd guess it would need to be a little more simplistic to those not familiar with it, but the more options the better. Whilst in a game, it would naturally only keep the channel open to those within the actual channel game name. However, if you wanted to open the World channel, you could do so without annoying the other players, on your own screen.
