I'm looking forward to building a course on a real world location. In order to do that I need to be able to import height map info into the program. Where can I find information on how to do that?

Tutorials regarding that will be coming in due course. While you're learning it's probably best to put the regular tutorial package through it's paces with the help of the videos.

Thanks Mike. Will do. I'll save working on my masterpiece "The Pastures at Huasna" until after I learn the basics. After that I might have to try a real world course. But I will be looking forward to those tutorials as they'll be necessary for both. And congratulations on the release. I'm installing Unity right now (a more daunting task than I thought), and should be designing "soon" (sorry...couldn't resist  ).

Mike can you use terrain creators from the asset store to create terrains?

Mike can you use terrain creators from the asset store to create terrains?

I know some beta testers used Gaia and one other.  It should be ok as long as it doesn't use and custom scripts to operate the terrain (not generate) and your final terrain is named Terrain and it is positioned at 0,0,0.

I will do tutorials about using your own terrains in the future but until you're proficient with CF and unity it's probably not a great idea to start out that way.

I know most of the Beta testers learned with the base tutorial terrain before moving on. The ones that started out using their own terrain generally ran into a lot more problems while learning.

Yeah, what Mike said.  I know everyone wants to do a real course right away, but, I can tell you from experience, you will have a much better time of it, if you create a fictional one first and get proficient at using Unity and Course Forge, then if you dive head first into a real course.

It might save guys like me (who like real courses) some time if we could find out if the raw data we have access to in our respective countries is good enough to make a height map.  If it isn't, I can't see myself getting into CF.
