... I was to post this in the Course Forge section, but to my surprise I could not start a topic there !!!???

If I want to use that templete and make some major terrain elevation , like rasing some part 40 to 20 meters ,before start trying to create a hole .... Do I need to take any notice of the pre planted trees ? Will thoose rise with the terrain or do I have to delete them first in the areas I like to rise ?

Thx

Ola

I've moved your topic for you.

Yes, the trees will snap to terrain :)

I'm not exactly sure, but if you deleted a spline, I'm pretty sure it's gone.  Some of the CF stuff isn't a part of Unity's undo queue.  So, if you delete a spline, you'll have to recreate it.  It may get saved in the scene file.  I'd have to test to be sure.

Well ... I deleted the question to your answer ,,,, Bad Me .... I think what I should have done was to rebulid the splines ... can´t recall I did that ....now i solved in some other way .... so its fine now .... I think

You can continue and make more holes! You only need to 'build' it when you want to test it in PG.

Thx Mike ... I just got hooked up on what you said in the turorials ... "it will take a while to save the course for the first time , but the second will be much quicker " ... so I assumed that meant you should continue with the course that was generated when doing the "click to build it anyway" button the 2nd time ... !?

Yes.  He just mean't that the first time you click to build the course, it will take longer to build than subsequent builds :)  So, after you create hole 2, for instance, it will take less time to build, or compile, the golf course by Unity.

I got the impression too that each time you change elevations you redo the spines the mesh things click on the outer one and redo them and make sure no overlaps etc.

I was having trouble building a course from scratch having a heightmap.  I thought all settings were the same as Mike's set-up in the tutorials.  After many failed builds, I created a new project, dragged in the course1 project, deleted the trees, saved as my project, then changed the terrain to the backup I had of my heightfield project, saved scene saved terrain, built a few holes and it has worked since then.  I will use this process from now on with new projects.  maybe this will help anyone else with problems getting their courses to build without errors.

Just a reminder too when you do a Save Scene AS - NEVER use Capitols in the file name or the course will not load - I did that even though I watched the tutorial about it even though I also took my own notes about it - I got into the zone and saved a file with caps the course which was 2 holes would go to 95% and no further finally I remembered to NOT use ANY CAPS in the file name

This Course above will not load Capital H in file name.
