Hello everyone,

I just started my first course designed inspired by one of my older designs in another game. It is hypothetically set near Woodgate, NY in the Mohawk Valley Region, at an altitude of 1148 feet. This course will wind through essentially parts of the Adirondack Forest although not on public lands of course.

Here are some screenshots of the first three holes, all are Par 4's. Content of course subject to change until the final design is completed.

15 more holes and a whole lot of tweaking and beautification and set pieces to add. Much respect to all the designers out there. You really have to put in some work to get these done. My first three holes are about 10 hours a piece over three days. Good thing I'm in early retirement. I cannot imagine doing these with a full time job to boot.

I'm really enjoying Unity and Course Forge and know I have plenty of things still to learn. Such as; is there a way to adjust the amount of points created along a spline? Anyway I'll be asking for some help if I get stuck or just some general advice when needed.

Cheers,

Looks good so far. But wow! Is the rough wider than the fairway?

Nice! Looks like you're off to a good start. Don't worry thing will get easier and faster once you've used CF a bit more.

Yes.  Make sure CF is in Advanced Mode. (Perfect Parallel > Course Forge Settings > Advanced Mode)

Open the Layers Library.  On the left hand side, look for the box labeled "Meters per point".

Oh, and Great start!  Looking good!

great start m8, and yes you may want to reign in that semi rough, it just looks better with a narrower band, but its your baby, its not gonna impact the play...keep it up!

First rule of layers library is don't talk about layers library

There will be tutorials forthcoming but until then I suggest you leave it well alone.

Thanks for the replies and encouragement. A few questions that the comments brought to mind follow.

The larger rough areas are the deep rough there is a narrower band of regular rough. Does the areas outside of the narrow band of rough give penalties similar to deep rough if I left them bare? I thought there was a way to adjust the penalty of the rough. Does anyone know if you can adjust the meshes penalties?  I'm not completely pleased with the dark color of the deep rough but want to make sure players are penalized appropriately for landing outside of the regular rough.

Thanks again,

SC  :)

Hello All,

Some updated info for Mohawk Valley v2

Welcome to Mohawk Valley Golf Course. A fictional design inspired by the area in and around Woodgate, NY. Course is Geo located at Woodgate's coordinates and altitude (1480 feet). This mountain woodland course was carved out and financed by a golf playing outdoors society. Hypothetically that is. Plenty of elevation changes and risk reward situations. Mohawk Valley Golf Course boasts Hole Number 13, "Reichenbach Falls" as well as one of the longest Par 3's in virtual existence, Number 17, "The Hammer". Among this courses other iconic holes are some of the courses's additional Par 3's; Number 6, "Pac-Man" and Number 10, "Between a Rock and a Hard Place". The course begins with one of it's most memorable holes, Number One, "Split Decision" and wraps up appropriately with Number 18, "A Long Way From Home".  Enjoy Mohawk Valley's challenging greens and vast bunker complexes to take you on a tough but memorable round of golf.
