Could someone please explain what this means in English...Object reference not set to an instance of an object....and how it's fixed.......cheers.

Google is your friend.
I think it means something like Unity cannot recognize an object that doesn't exist.
I tend to clear errors or ignore them unless they keep me from building my course.
I'm most likely wrong, but I get tired of Unity constantly reminding me that I am.

In unity that often happens when it's trying to find the terrain but for some reason it is missing or has been deleted. Make sure you save your scene AND terrain often.
