Bunker Burn

Best Answer DPRoberts , 12 November 2016 - 01:24 AM

Try decreasing the strength of the normal map from 0.7 to something like 0.15 and see if it improves. You could also experiment with the size of 4 to something larger depending on the level of detail in your map. Go to the full post

Your picture is small so I can't quite see any details.  I think you are seeing the variation provided by the upper left texture in your layers library.  This is by design so that textures have a more organic appearance.

This video from K11 might help you better understand the function of each layer:

Check tutorial video  layerslibrary, time 7.55
open up layers library, sand, select texture- normal 2, texture is highlithed- bunkerrakee2048_n
in inspector, texture type change to advanced, import type- normal map, apply, then refresh all your splines

I think it's the "BunkerSandoverhead" texture in the upper left of your library (texture 1) giving you that look.

If you don't like that look, experiment with the tiling numbers a bit and see if that helps.

If you still don't like how it looks, click on the upper left slot (texture 1) and push delete.  This will not delete the texture from your project, it will just remove it from the library slot.  Now refresh the bunker and they should look more uniform.

If I'm remembering correctly, the default sand settings probably don't need to be altered much so you may want to look at those to start. If you're shooting for custom textures, it's probably easier to start with the grasses. Bright whites of bunkers take a little more understanding of the interaction of the 3 layers and strengths. In my opinion, custom grasses will impact the look of the course more so than a custom bunker.

Thats a bit beyond me unless someone could post some HEX TRIPLETS..Wikipedia has hex codes for ever color , just blending them together may take some skill

Just be aware that the lighting in game may display brighter than in Unity so if you make the bunkers too light they will 'blow out' and look overexposed. You will have to experiment until you get the effect you want but I would recommend that you don't stray too far from the defaults until you are comfortable with the way Unity and PG display textures in different lighting scenarios.
