trying to build course

Best Answer DPRoberts , 18 November 2016 - 12:05 AM

You need to hit the build button one more time. First time generates the errors. I don't even click ok on them. Just click the build button and it will start going. I believe you forgot the shot point and your splines are z fighting but that doesn't matter for the test. Will just look funny in game and that's why. Go to the full post

trying to build 4 holes and I get this, I have an OB around all 4 holes.

MissingComponentException: There is no 'Collider' attached to the "Spline 36" game object, but a script is trying to access it.

I would suggest that spline 36 is corrupt, find out which one it is and delete it and then redraw it.

Depending on complexity of the spline, it might be good to redraw it first (over top of the first) and then delete the original/offending spline?  :)

You may need to leave one of the control points off the original line so you know which spline to delete.

For possible future reference, it appears that the spline number the order in which they were drawn (starting with 0, 1, 2, ...), correct?

Is there tool/selection method find a specific spline easily or just click on the spline to see its number?  I tried clicking on the 'spline' button that lists the number, and found that it shows the mesh for that spline and all interior splines.  I was hoping for a drop down where I could select the spline number.  Anyway, not sure how often this might be necessary, but perhaps a new feature for CF...??

And you drew the spline again?  Depending where the spline was, it might be required that it be re-drawn.

Could be you're on the wrong build platform, look for other help threads with the same problem for the solution on how to fix.

Well could be i guess, I completely reinstalled Unity and started a new course using the tutorial files... tried to build 1 hole and nothing. I get no errors or anything saying there is an issue. I give up, love CF it is a blast but I will just play others courses, this is to much of a PITA. i have now spent around 8 hrs working on 4 courses and none will build and no errors given. I thought I had one when I had the original spline error but alas it was not to be. Thanks for trying everyone

OK so I wiped my HD and did a clean OS install...still cannot build a course. I really want to build the Norman course at PGA West. I get no errors when trying to build. The notification area at the bottom seems to stick on lighting something and all 8 procs go to 100 percent. Windows 10, I7 4790k, 16 gb RAM 450GB ssd, gtx 980ti. Anything?

Any chance you could post a video of your steps? Or post verbage on steps including what icons you click, what you see on the screen after you do so and then if the build occurs, how you place that file in your perfect golf course folder. My guess is this is fixable but may require someone logging into your pc if it can't be discovered through thread posting.

It would be helpful if you could at least indicate whether you tried the steps suggested. People will just give up offering solutions if they don't know you at least tried what they suggested. How long did you wait after initiating the build?

BTW if you are using the tutorial project you will not have the build lighting message. Without more information I cannot help your further I'm afraid.

Are you allowing long enough for the course to build? The first time I build my course it sometimes takes up to 4-5 minutes. It's much quick on subsequent builds.

When you have clicked on the build course button, you get the list of warnings about missing holes, tees etc.

Where you click OK to clear them all, try leaving them and clicking on the build course button again. I think the reason you are sat with nothing happening is the build stopped to give you the warnings but then wasn't restarted, as you just cleared the warnings.

Hahaha, posted at same time as DPR. At least we agree, lol.
