I was kind of hesitant in showing this screenshot as I am not looking for praise but I just wanted to let you all know it is being done for JNPG (1 meter lidar data), my version anyways just incase the other never comes out. I have done this course for two other games and have been to the course a few times but have never played it (Darn it..)

I am hoping to get this out by the first of the year, I just need to plant some more objects like buildings, and the objects around tees and such. I am not ruling out getting burnt out as well because that happens a lot with me when I spend a ton of time on a course in such a short time.

Here is hole 8 and 17, this is all i'll share for right now. There will be no public beta because I am not a fan of beta's for courses, I have a few friends that I play with a ton so they will be my testers as will my eyes because I test my own course a lot. All pins have been checked and play great and since I used the Friday, Saturday and Sunday pins for the Ryder Cup they are kind of tucked.

You have them both as par 4s.

Unless you decided to be bold and restore the original 17th hole :)

Yeah, that has been fixed already. I guess I was so used to placing shot points down on par 3's for the other game I played that I figured this one out yesterday when I noticed I was making birdies left and right on these 2 holes..lol

Any thoughts on re-routing the holes as they did for the Ryder Cup (or having 2 versions)?  I really liked the finishing holes as the new 16 and 17 (7 and 8 in the actual course routing) seemed to be more challenging, especially for the singles matches.

I think the snow is starting to let up!

It can be done really easy but having two versions of the same course bothers me, I will think of it...

This looks great Joe! Designed this one years ago for JNUG (I think they had the US Open there) and its a great course. Hoping someone soon shares the secret of using LIDAR data. I'm tired of waiting for Terriain Forge.

I have my way of using Lidar and it's pretty easy ( I do have tutorials that I may be able to share of how I do it ) but you just have to have access to Lidar. Personally my home state of Minnesota has all of the state done and it's free so I have access to thousands of courses.

This is all I have so far of 1 meter Lidar data but I think that is enough for now because i'll never use all of it..lol

Regarding multiple versions of the same course, I wonder if the dev's could look at a way to choose a different routing by allowing the player to choose the order of the holes.  It seems like there is more of this going on lately (rerouting Hazeltine, East Lake, The Grove, etc.).  I'm sure this feature would be at the bottom of the dev's list of improvements, but it might be something to consider.  At least it would eliminate the need to create multiple versions of the same course.

Would be very interested in your use of LIDAR tutorial Joe.

UK coverage is pretty good and access isnt too bad, so if you have a simple method to create a unity terrain from that data then could be very useful info

I'll send you some links that aren't published. Still uneasy as to if I can even put them up again because one person wasn't to happy.

Obviously Joe, it is your call at the end of the day.

Why someone would not be happy, I'm not sure. Surely, all you are doing is showing how to take a LIDAR scan and load it in to Unity so it has all the correct dimensions and elevations and maybe adding the terrain overlay.

You are then at the point where CF is introduced to the party.

Sorry I'm so late responding...Thanksgiving...and I'm the cook! I would appreciate any info you can give me on using real life terrain info (lidar...I guess). Worked with this stuff on a Front Page Golf (I think that was the name...actually had a pretty good course designer...probably defunct by now), and it wasn't that hard. And I'm tired of waiting for Terrain Forge (hold for applause).

Joe,

I have access to Lider data of the golf course I actually work at across the pond from you. Course called Bay Harbor. I have been working group on getting this inot unity. I got it to look ok once but still don't have a clue on what setting are appropriate for CF to use. Would you be willing to also send me the links for importing Lidar date into unity
