Hello All...

Over a year ago I started to build a course based on a real course in my area. I was privileged enough to have been allowed to join the beta testing of Course Forge at that time. Well, real life through all sorts of monkey wrenches into that project. Included in the batch of wrenches was the loss of that particular computer and everything on it.

So now I am back at it. I am building a real course from the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Specifically, the Ross Bridge course in Hoover, AL. You can take a look at the course via the link below.

http://www.rtjgolf.com/rossbridge/

I have the height map and have created the terrain. Terra-forming and general layout are complete. I have created the rudimentary first hole for testing and run into my first issue. What settings in Unity do I need to adjust to get rid of the hazy look in the screenshot below?

You cannot see the fairway at all from the tee box due to this haze. Thanks for any help y'all can provide.

In unity Go to the "Window" menu across the top now go down to "Lighting"

And set your settings to this...

Should be good to go now

Hope this helps

I think Fixes like this should be put into a Fixes Category, might make it easier for ppl that are coming along, like me if we had a Fixes Forum? I know I've run across other fixes but by the time I'm going to need them, I will Not remember where they are..

Or something like that?

Glad you made it back  TheOtherRick. :)

Now that you have fixed the haze, might we see that fairway?

Wow can't wait to play this one. I live about 45 minutes away from this course and have played it many times. I've considered giving a go at course forge myself and this and farmlinks would be two I would have considered. So undulating and hilly though for a first time designer. Scares me...

TOR,

If you ever want to take all the HUD detail off the screen when taking a screenshot so your image is uncluttered, press CTRL+ALT+U to toggle all the hole info, meters and icons off. Use same key combo to bring them back.

@ Daz - Thanks for the HUD stuff.

So...started it all over tonight. I got my hands on a new terrain height map from a friend at OGT. He made it from LIDAR data that was WAY better than the World Composer terrain I had been using. Here are a couple of Unity screen shots of the course.

This is a bird's eye view of the whole course

These are the first 3 holes.

Time to start laying splines...

Slowly but surely...chipping away at building this course. I have a cart path question. I know that some people use Easy Roads for their cart paths. Others just "paint" them on the terrain. And still others use the #3 concrete spline in Course Forge. Is there a preferred and/or best method to use. I have literally miles of cart path on this course and I do not want to over inflate the file size by using a less than ideal method. Photo below gives an example of what I want to replicate...

This is looking down on the 1st hole and 2nd hole.

For Liberty National I used Easy Roads free and it worked fine...I always place the cart Paths last and didn't notice any difference

First, Thanks to RobC for the reply.

Now I have a new issue. I am laying out the fly-by for Hole 3. I had no problems on the first two holes, but one has come up here. The camera for the flyby is defaulting to the 0,0,0 home position of my terrain for the view target. Observe the screen shot below...

vVMcDjW.jpg

As you can see, the target is set for the pin. Notice the perspective point for the target (red circle) and the camera view. Any ideas what is causing this? I tried a potential work around for this by setting the target to "Next" for all of the waypoints, but that won't work on the last waypoint and the camera will snap back to that highlighted target.

EDIT - Addendum: Problem solved by deleting the pins and resetting 1 pin. Acting normal now.

Whatever happened to this course design?  Is it still in progress?  If not, I'd like to start designing Ross Bridge.  Thanks.

Monster course from champ tees...the 13th might be the longest hole in PG.  The overlay gives it a cold hard look that suits its length.

I didn't encounter any obvious problems.  The first cut 3D grass looks a bit long maybe.

I had a quick look at this course and noticed that there were no shadows.  Anyone else see this?
