water issues (drop options)

lateral hazards

Best Answer bortimus , 31 December 2016 - 09:59 PM

Just one around the whole course.

Edit:  It also matters sometimes how the OB spline interacts with some of the hazards for drops, but having OB around each hole is definitely the biggest showstopper for your courses right now.

ok heres my problem,i have 3 courses completely finished ,ready to release, just cant figure out how to set the water hazards correctly, the drop options are allways wrong.i either get the 1000 yard option, or i get, previous ,option with penalty to rehit,or you can drop, but its allways in the water, i have watched mikes tutorials on this 6 times,i feel im doing exactly what it says but it dosent seem to work.i have read every post on this forum  about water hazards. tpc avenel has alot of water, rivers and streams.

ive tried setting the rivers with lateral hazards, so you can drop on one side or the other depending on where you go in.

using mikes advice  any lake or pond that has a fairway running down one side, i try to set as a lateral as well.ive even tried to set a lake as  just a water hazard and you end up hitting out of the water.

i know im missing something just cant figure out what.any ideas appreaciated.

just thought of something, can your course out of bounds  affect your water hazards,or another way to put it,can your water hazard splines cross your out of bounds splines.

Have you set the water plane collider to 'water' in the inspector window?
If not, in the Mesh Collider window set the Material to 'water' by clicking on the small button next to where it say 'None (Physics Material)'. This will open a window. Click on 'water'.

Yes.

You may want to post some screenshots from overhead showing the splines on some specific areas.  The experienced folks here could help get you sorted out.

is it better to set your course out of bounds with one large out of bounds or out of  bounds for each hole seperatly?

Cant wait to give these a run through. Your screeners of avenel looked brilliant, and shadow creek looks just as special. Hope to give them a work through on OGT BETA just in case youve missed any minor problems and can get these out there. Great stuff
