If you are just not hearing your local sounds,

try sliding the volume to the lower end of the slider.

If I remember correctly this slider works the opposite

of what it should.

Unity doesn't seem to play any sounds at all unless you tick the loop box, so you have to include silence in your clips.

I add maybe 10-12 seconds in if I want something incidental, like a specific animal or a plane or something. I'm not really sure what the best interval usually is, but I generally add time before and after, so it doesn't play the second the screen renders itself.

I use Cubase, which is professional recording software, but you can do the same thing with Audacity, which is free.

Here are the settings for Local Sound

I have played with Volume, loop un loop , spacial blend, camera has audio attached ,fiddled with 3d settings

tried changing distances as well, moved the red volume line up and down added a key point  for more volume adjustments to increase sound, used the move tool and moved the sound up higher and lower  where it sits

if i make the sound global, no problems , but only want sounds to play on awake when nearby

I made  Global sounds with  bird calls and they work, i added the bell sounds i want to the bird calls and added them here and there which work ok,  but not exactly what i wanted

Thanks

Don't know a lot about the designer but shouldn't there be a check mark in the box next to "Audio Source"?
