Sim Pass Not Authorized

Sim pass authorization is down at this moment.

 

Is there an ETA as to when it'll be back back up?  Are there no backup servers in place to ensure this doesn't affect 100+ GC2 users.

Skytrak users reporting no errors as they are authenticated by skygolf.

The outage will most likely be until this evening sometime.

What I don't understand is a Sim Pass is $250.00/year on a recurring revenue basis. 

I feel that there should be backup servers for Sim Auth seeing as we are continued revenue and not just single pay users.

I'm sorry you feel that way.  I currently do not know what is causing the outage.  Preliminary checks of the servers showed all is ok.  I am confident PP will have this resolved this evening.

Also unique to Sim side is without that auth the game effectively becomes useless, unlike a non simulator player, who simply has a reduced amount of courses available to them.


It’s fully reasonable to expect there will always be outages, however if it was at all possible to try and mitigate the effects, ie a backup server of some kind, or a re evaluation of how the auth system works I think it’s only right to see if something can be implemented.

A relatively speaking significant amount of revenue is provided directly by simulator users, above and beyond that of a standard user, so hopefully any extra provision would be financially covered ready within the sim pass fees, although obviously I wouldn’t know the ins and outs of that

+1 on the problem.

Since this is not the first time and probably not the last either. Would be nice to hear what happened and if anybody has some ideas on how it could be fixed so it does not happen again.

Do the Sim purchasers have the option for a USB thumbdrive/key or something in lieu of online authorizations?

Might be a good option for the future if not.

 

Maybe a combo of physically connected key+online check every few months (to re-verify ongoing yearly sub)

I've been advised problem will not be fixed tonight.  Work will continue tomorrow morning.

 

So at the moment, GC2 users can not connect, Skytrak players can connect but won't have any DLC courses, and pc players won't have DLC courses/items.

No.  Unfortunately, the problem causing this has not been determined.  Once that has happened tho, the fix will be put into place immediately, unless it's a hardware failure of some kind.

Please test your GC2 sim pass and dlc content. Restart steam and game. Launch a shot on range.

I'll post here as well. Sim Pass is now working, and able to hit shots. Bethesda DLC was previously purchased, but not showing in game as available course to play. Shows in Proshop as available for purchase. I have checked file integrity in Steam, and all was fine. Rebooted PC, steam and game...still no luck

It seems that those who aren't working were the original sim pass buyers that came out of Beta.

Mine is still not working.

The problem was with steam. They changed thier api yesterday. Basically, this caused a big problem with all Perfect Golf transactions such as our sim pass. Andrew (PP) had to rewrite a bunch of scripts. All should be good now. If you're still missing the sim pass come tomorrow morning, please post in the thread at OGT:
