Mike I read all your comments in regards to the new FOV and it's extra realism.

The problem is as an RTS/M player, I watch the clubhead on my backswing, and now I can't judge putts because the FOV is too far away.

I know most here are clickers so they are not impacted, but this change has literally ruined the game for me and stopped me wanting to play.

To remove the default view that all RTS/M players have relied on for well over a year to putt and chip accurately is not reasonable and is not treating us equally with other swing methods.

Please consider finding a way for us RTS/M players to at least have the option of the old default FOV.

Fully agree with you, sort of in a parallel way.  Being RTS-C, I only sometimes use my avatar as a reference, and definitely dislike the feeling of being further away w/ the new FOV.  Just generally that's my problem with it.  I just feel disconnected and distant from my golfer and the ball and views off in the distance, most of the time now.

My Uncle and I have been playing a bit since the change, but I'm far less interested in it now as I just don't enjoy it as much.  I struggle through it and it's sort "ok I guess", but it's not a great trend, as this will lead me away from Perfect Golf at some point I fear.

View preferences are so personal and different across swing method and display setup, etc -- We really need more views/control over them, not less and certainly not a new FOV for PG1 at this time in the product life.

I don't understand why PG1 is getting things like wind and view changes anyhow.

Shouldn't that all be going into PG2?

Quite agree with all of that Dave.  Pretty poor move from the Devs I'd say.

Buck,

Would you be happy if the new FOV showed up un-anounced in PG2?  I think now they know how everyone feels, and have a good reason to at least provide several FOV choices for PG2.

Same argument for the wind model. I don't want to pay for PG2 if it shows up with a broken wind model - its a core piece of a proper golf game, not new feature.  Test it out in PG1 (for the folks not migrating to  WIN10) and get it ironed out!

Honestly?

I'd rather have both things be exposed to beta testers and have that group be expanded to a more diverse set of users at the same time.

I don't find a released PG1 game to be a proper place to test either thing out if I'm being frank.

And for FOV specifically, that should be an additional option, not a replacement for the long standing camera we have all grown accustomed to, or not used at all.  I don't recall a single desire from anyone on the forum, ever, for a wider FOV for the default camera (maybe I missed it though - I certainly could be wrong)

I agree with every thing you said.  I just don't want PG1 to be left abandoned in an incomplete state (wind wise).  There are some of us that will continue with PG1, until we upgrade to Win10.

And yes, I'd like to Beta the corrected wind model (especially if the source of the equations are from me).

It hasn't been correct from the beginning.  The latest patch still isn't right.  When it is you should get ~7yds side drift, per 100yds of carry, per 10mph of wind for full shots.  A 72 ft Chip (64W) should move ~1 ft, per 10mph wind.

Guys, please. This thread is about FOV, start a new thread on wind If need be, would like to keep this one focused on what to me is a very important issue.

I've played this game for 1300 hours according to Steam, and this FOV issue has me on the verge of walking away.

Right now I'm just dispirited and sad that it might end this way.

As an RTS's myself Vainte's points echo my feelings as well.  It is really important to me as well in a negative way.

I have played 2 rounds on PG since Christmas and only because of the PGLS soundscript introduction.  Certainly I have the time to play more but lack the inclination to do so.  Most responders to this issue have indicated that they prefer the old FOV or that they are not bothered. However I don't think I've seen a single post indicating that the new FOV is better (apart from what MJ has posted)!  Go figure.

Even though I am a 3 clicker I too prefer the old FOV.

For me this issue will continue to get worse, as my eyes are not what they once were, even with glasses.

Suggestion for PG2 - Mike I saw you mentioned giving free reign to FOV might break the engine or game In one way or another.

Please give us a sliding 'range' of FOV's from as close as you can manage to as far as you want that are acceptable from dev point of view.

That way caters for the most possible viewing devices/resolutions and eyes.

I guess the only issue with the new FOV is the apparent distance of the golfer to the cam and not the actual wider visual. I have already stated that we are looking at moving the FOV to 42 which will be much better. As I'm not coding it however I cannot say when that will be.

The new wider visual looks much better and realistic than older. I understand what RTS/M players are trying to say, but for me as a simulator player / 3 clicker, this new view is MUCH BETTER than the old view.

I'm not asking to take away your new FOV.

I'm just asking for the old FOV back as an additional option, so I can play the game.

I have to get on the bandwagon with other RTS/M players here. Although I can play the game with the new FOV I just don't understand why this has to be a hardcore built in thing and not an option. Maybe one could put in an option that the FOV is swing-related, so that RTS/M players can have their standard cam view back? Clickers watch the swingmeter, Swingers watch the animation, its that simpel really. I accept the argument that some people love the new views etc (a purely subjective point of view I might add) but lets TRY to keep everybody on board here. There is no need to force this upon everybody. Just give RTS players back what they already had. Thank you.

Vainte, I am also an RTM player and I can not say it affected me that much, did not even notice on my first rounds untill I read the forum.

However, I changed the view settings (on green play only) to Close and High. If you have not used High setting, that is what most affects the view of how much you pull back the putter. So much that I stopped using the Close setting actually.

As an RTS-M player I found that the new FOV only affected my chipping and putting from off the green.  A bit of time spent re-calibrating my visual cues for distance control when chipping solved that.  I use the Medium putting camera setting and saw no difference in the FOV when on the green, it remained the same as before.  The new FOV does make a difference when putting from off the green but then I faced that same challenge with the previous FOV as well.  Then, as now, I had to hit those putts more by feel than by visual cue.

Having played around with the FOV settings in the console I found that a value of 42 gave me a view that I like better than any other setting.  That's my personal preference.
