Stuck at loading 100%

Best Answer luckymcd , 31 January 2018 - 08:30 PM

I fixed the problem without actually figuring out what it was. There were no problems with pins or tees as I expected. All I did to get it to load was rebuild the splines. I think the issue may have been the first hole didn't have rough all the way around. Rebuilding the splines put the rough in. Regardless, the problem is fixed, so now I'm on to different problems. If I could delete this thread I would, but I don't know if I can.

I've been working on my first course and after many hours I finally built it and attempted to test it in Perfect Golf. The build seemed to go well. The only error I got was doesn't have 18 tees / pins / flybys because I hadn't done any flybys. I rechecked the tees and pins and had everything right, and again didn't get any errors about the tees or pins specifically. I added the course folder to Perfect Golf, and started it up. The course appears and I am able to create a game on it. Everything appears to be right and the game begins loading. Unfortunately when it gets to 100% nothing happens. I've let it continue for loading for up to 20 minutes after getting to 100% and still nothing happens. The game stats stuck on the splash picture for the course. My computer is not frozen, as I can move the mouse, hear the birds tweeting, and as soon as I give up and quit it closes. I saw the thread on freezing at 50%, but I don't think I'm affected by any of those causes. Since my problem is a little bit different I figured starting a new thread would be the way to go. Are there any specific problems that would cause the course to freeze at 100% loading? Like I said this is my first course, so I may have done something stupid wrong. I did test it after completing the first hole and it did load though. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Even if it doesn't solve my problem it could help others.

Just guessing, but I would try closing all background tasks on your operating system, and also possibly moving the sliders to the left in PG settings just to see if it helps load the course.   Or check video card settings?  Some things I'd try...

I would still go into debugg and check you have the correct amount of pins etc, and make sure each pin is on the green, not out in a bush somehwere, same with tees, check amount, type and if correctly situated.

I Highly recommend installing LarryKuh "rogue pin and tee finder". Just follow the dropbox link at the bottom of his firs post and Import Custom Package. When you go to compilie your course, if any pins/tees are not in there proper place, this will find it.

I'm having a similar problem.  My course, Pine Hills, is getting stuck at 100% and not loading.  This is the first I've tried to compile this course.  I started from the template project that comes with Course Forge.  The things I've done on the course so far

  • Load the LiDAR data into the height map
  • Load a few different satellite images in to use on the height map for drawing shapes
  • Draw fairway, green, tee and bunker shapes, draw OB around the course
  • Add and place water objects
  • Place pins, tees, and shot markers.

I deleted all of the trees planted in the template project from the height map.  Those trees are still loaded in the project though and I loaded the SpeedTree trees that you get through Course Forge free into the project but I haven't planted any yet and I haven't planted any grass yet.

I've tried the following to fix the problem and did another build after each without any change in the situation:

  • Installed the rouge pin and tee finder, found one rouge pin and deleted it
  • Wrapped all the holes in individual rough shapes
  • Added easy pins (I had only placed medium and hard pins so far originally)
  • Replaced the 8192x8192 satellite photo on the terrain I was using to trace shapes to a generic 1024x1024 rough texture (when I thought of this I thought for sure this was going to fix it but it didn't)
  • Deleted from the project all the satellite photos I loaded into the project.
  • Deleted all of the water objects from the scene
  • Deleted all of the fairway shapes (didn't know if some were too close to the edge of greens and causing issues)
  • Deleted all measuring objects (I had a lot because I was measuring actual pin locations used in the Wisconsin State Mid-Am and didn't delete the measuring objects after I was done with each green)

None of this has worked.  Any ideas what the problem could be?  All other courses load fine so it's not my game.  No sense in continuing working on this course until it's fixed and I've run out of ideas to try so hoping someone here can come up with something.

Did you make sure there are no capital letters in the scene name?

Had a couple people try it and they were able to get it to load.  Going to play with my graphics settings in the game and see if I can get it to work.

Go to File/build settings and check that it looks like this.

It is set to Windows/x86.  I now have 4 people saying it loads fine for them.  I tried setting my graphics settings in the game to Very Low and that actually made it get stuck at 50%.  The settings I normally play with are Ultra High custom, the custom being Vegnetting & Bloom and Sun Effects turned off.  When I switched it back to that it was back to getting stuck at 100%.  All other courses load fine.  I don't really no what else to try here.

Are you closing Unity after you build, and before loading into Steam?

I actually have Unity installed on a different computer, on my laptop whereas the game is on my desktop, so I don't think that would apply.  When it finishes building I transfer the files over the network to the other computer for testing.  I make sure the game isn't running before the transfer, so it is a new starting of the game when I try to test it.

Well, All that comes to mind is to check the OOB spline.

If you drew it free-hand sometimes when it renders control

points will get crossed. To make sure delete it and use point to

point to draw it, then recalculate.

I used point to draw and straight lines between points for the OB perimeter.

Thanks for trying to help.  I'm going to try reinstalling the game tomorrow.  Seems like it might be a problem on that end rather than the course.

I did notice I'm getting these errors after the compile finishes though:

  • Shader error in 'Hidden/NFAA': Compiled shader code uses too many instruction slots (112). Max. allowed by the target (ps_2_0) is 96. at line 1 (on d3d9)
  • Shader error in 'Hidden/NFAA': Compiled shader code uses too many instruction slots (99). Max. allowed by the target (ps_2_0) is 96. at line 1 (on d3d9)
  • Shader error in 'Hidden/NFAA': Too many math instructions for SM2.0 (99 needed, max is 64). Try #pragma target 3.0 at line 78 (on d3d9)
  • Shader error in 'Hidden/NFAA': Too many math instructions for SM2.0 (91 needed, max is 64). Try #pragma target 3.0 at line 114 (on d3d9)

Don't know if that means anything to anyone.  Seems to have compiled fine since other people can load the course though so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Make sure you don’t have an old version in your courses folder. Might have an old corrupt version screwing things up. Especially if you had it named to another folder.

We have a winner! :) I didn’t think so but after I removed all courses and just put the latest Pine Hills build in it worked!  Then I narrowed it down by adding half the courses back in at a time until I found the culprit.  Apparently the very first build attempt I still had the scene named course1 which is the default from the template project.  I wasn’t looking in the folders starting with C when replacing old versions so I didn’t realize I did that.  I must have changed it to pine_hills after the first build and then completely forgot I did that with old one still in there.  So one of those things I did actually did fix the problem but my game kept loading the old one.  It was probably either removing the rouge pin or adding easy pins I’d guess.  Thanks for the help!
