I was relieved when I found out I could forego flyby's without the game crashing. Can I also set all of my pins to say Medium and then the game will always choose a random pin location? Hopefully that would not crash at loading or in game?

You need one of each.

Hmmm, I shouldn't at work but curiosity got the best of me and it was lunch. On a 1 hole test course seems to work. Placed 6 medium pins only and created 4 new games which resulted in 3 different pin placements (1 repeated). Played a complete 1 hole round without an error.

Very. This will be very useful for me. Not sure how others would like not being able to choose between the 3 pin types when creating a new game but I like it. One less thing I need to set at startup each time I create a new game.

Using the 3 different pin types in course creation was misleading (not sure that is the right word here?) for me as I would end up trying to mix up the easy pin placements so they weren't all easy and then the same for medium and difficult as well. That comes from the assumption that if I would choose Difficult at the beginning of a game then all pin placements would be the Hard placements and the game wouldn't mix in some medium and easy as well. Could be that it does but I haven't dug deep enough there yet.

As far as I know, let's say you have 2 difficult pins. Each time you start a game, they are randomly chosen. However, in OGT tournies, they have the ability to choose exactly which difficult pin that everyone plays. Or med/easy.

But no, it won't mix in diff/med/easy, only in within each category.

That's the way I thought it worked besides the tournies. I guess that makes it even more usable since it wouldn't mess with tournies. Hopefully some designers will utilize it.

I have always thought the pin choice should be called (Friday, Saturday or Sunday pins) and this way the designer is not trying to make all pins easy or all hard but instead have a normal mix of pins like real golf.  Of course if you pick Sunday pins then you would see possibly harder pins than you would see on average compared with Friday pins.

For my own course that I made for my buddies to play so it matched what we play all year, I used the front, middle and back pins as you move through the course.  So (easy pins) started with hole #1 with a front pin and hole #2 has middle and #3 has back etc. and then on (med pins) hole #1 has a middle pin, #2 back and #3 front etc. and (difficult pins) has hole#1 with back pin, #2 front pin and #3 middle etc.

A simple randomizer would be handy. Or the ability to pick by number. Today, all the "1s", for example.

Would also help testing a great deal as attempting to test one specific pin can be aggravating when you have to start and restart.

I swear I ran across something that gave me the option to show all pins at once. Maybe that was Woody's Range only?

Any time in practice mode you can use the icon to choose to show all pins.  They don't all have a cup to putt into but show where they all are so that you can drop a ball by a pin and then use the BLI to zoom around that pin and see what the deg of slope is.

As for picking a pin to play when setting up a solo round would be a great idea even though it would take a min to set up.  So many great courses out there that have some bad pin areas that one would like to avoid.
