Please could someone point me in the right direction regarding obtaining Lidar data for England, more especially the south?
Thank you.

Or anywhere in the UK for that matter.  :)

Is this the type of thing?

https://data.gov.uk/...posite-dsm-25cm

Got data quite quickly from this Defra site but have no idea if it is the correct format.......

Thank you. I must admit to know nothing of using Lidar so I have no idea either. More research needed, ;)

They have point cloud lidar and DTM. Which course are you looking for LanK? They updated the site and it looks different. Maybe I can help

I'd be interested to know if the data contained in this gov site is (a) in the correct format and {b} of the sort of detail/resolution useful for CF.

Larry, awhile ago now, managed to get me decent data for my old home course (Gosforth) just north of Newcastle. I think he used that site, but I think I got lucky...I seem to remember attempts at a variety of other courses around the country for other people came up short...either none availiable or parts of the course missing. I think he was getting the data by mapgrip.

Yes and Yes. But just because it shows there's lidar for that area once you download it there could be Missing pieces in that square. I've done quite a few UK courses for a few guys. Mainly for DoGgs

Someone has already recreated it Charles,

Well, you are referring too Westhaven North right? I'm sorry Ian, but that is a faulty design. Not only visually but also technically with lots of collider issues. The designer (Mick-S) has disappeared so there is nobody to update this course. Wentworth West begs for a new version!!

And how you extract it and how it's prepared for use in PG.

Tommyseb, one of the sim guys found great LIDAR that's paid here that was not available on the free sites.

https://www.blueskym...1000&f=&p=[]&m=

I don't think it was terribly expensive.

For example...25 quid for 1m LIDAR....to cover the same course Larry did for me.

I know. I just looked it up yesterday! It is indeed pretty good. But as I have written before, the TGC courses look somewhat different then in JNPG. In JNPG I kind of get a feeling like looking at a good painting with so much more detail and precision. Even older courses (like your beauties) are a joy to look at. JNPG courses just look better to me. Also, the TGC courses are bit to clean-cut to my liking. They are good (and the better ones certainly are) but in general the TGC coursedesigner seems to me inferior to JNPG.

Wentworth West should be the ideal 'playing ground' for you to hone your skills again!!! ^_^ :D  It could be your Masterpiece! -_-

I agree Charles, I occasionally play TGC 2019 but it's good to go back to PG.
I'm playing around with Course Forge again after Justin kindly supplied me with Lidar data for a 9 hole course near my home.
I won't be releasing it but at least it's good practice for getting back into the swing of things.
I think I'll let someone with more Unity and CF skills handle Wentworth.

Just go to the CF forum under General discussion and the very top pinned topic tutorial on how I use lidar by Joeh Habiger.
