I watched Payne Stewart sink that putt at Pinehurst in the 99 open. It was a long breaking putt that was all money. Like every other tool-golfer-fan there, I felt like he was my buddy even though he never knew me. He just had that way about him because he was so likable. It was so sad when he died in the plane crash later that year. Huge fan!

Yes indeed. He was one of the most charismatic players of all time. I remembered how shocked I was when the breaking news on TV was about his demise in that plane. Way too early for such a great golfer, personality and diplomat to leave this world.
