Generally speaking. I make a lot of 10 - 15 footers. Jimmy Walker, a good putter, made 35 % of his 10-15 footers and just 19 percent from 15-20 feet. I think i have to write down my success within these ranges. My feeling is, that i make more. Maybe more people could do this, to help the devs to find the right balance.
You have hit the nail on the head there frank, It is one of the main things I have picked up on so far.
I dont think any golf game has ever produced the correct percentage of putts made statistics. to me I find 3 footers are more like 1 footers I.E unmissable, 8-10 footers just seem routine and can be drilled in, 30 footers drop far too often.
To me - I am not convinced this all lies in the mechanics being too easy. I also feel that all golf games get the size of the hole relative to the ball wrong and the physics of the ball around the cup wrong. For example a 3 footer drilled into the right edge of the cup will just dissapear straight down, where as in reality it would hit the right edge and bounce a little either into the cup or out of the hole, I have always felt the holes seem too big, especially in links2003 where it seems like a bucket. The tiger woods series also suffers from this, where putts that look like they will miss just dive straight through the side of the hole as if being sucked into a black hole. It would really be great and add a lot the the experience if we had more authentic lip outs, and a 3 footer was actually as uncomfortable as they can be IRL, because at the moment a 3 footer is a tap in IMO, we should be penalised for trying to power them in and pulling or pushing slightly off center, a firm putt really cant afford to be off center IRL.
just me two cents worth trying to help this fantastic game to be the best.
