I saw this mentioned in another thread, but at the moment, can't find it.  Yesterday, I was not even connected online anywhere, but was working in an Excel spreadsheet when down in the bottom right-hand corner of my screen I get a little black popup window telling me someone is playing a game that was not even PG.  I remember somewhere in that thread someone said these announcements can be turned off over in Steam... somewhere.  Can someone point me to the Steam/link where I can turn off these announcements?

Thanks.

Warren

On your steam page Go to View > Settings > Friends and then turn off Display a Notification under When any Friend joins a game.

In addition, I usually exit Steam all together after exiting PG. I 'right' click on the Steam tray icon and select exit. Of course, PG is the only Steam game I currently own. Either method works.

Welcome to the world of Steam - You can also prevent steam from even running when your computer starts up. Go to Settings in steam not on your computer. Click on Steam and choose settings then click on Interface THEN uncheck the box that reads something like "Run Steam when my computer starts"

Steam like so many other programs assumes it wants you to have your soul controlled by it. Anyway, when you then want to Play Perfect Golf you can just Click on the Perfect Golf Shortcut and it will start steam first of course - unless you are in offline mode - and then it will run Perfect Golf.

If you only want to check out the Discussion threads etc. on Steam and not play they Game then Click on the Steam shortcut to start steam.

If Steam runs in background everytime Windows starts it sux up resources and this can be a problem according to what type of Computer you have an according to what you are doing. But Steam does not care about that they just automatically set it to run in background but then many programs do this too.

Little known fact when King Arthur was trying to make a golf course and he ran into some conflict. King Arthur: There's a peace only to be found on the other side of war. If that war should come I will fight it!    Other important fact. Read the Book of John in the Holy Bible.
