Is it a Speedtree?  It looks like it's been made in the Modeler but hasn't been saved out with all assets.  That's my guess anyway.

Hey Jt, what's up bud...No, it's an Xfrog tree. Here's a link to it. If you click on the 6th picture you can see the splines around the petal, so I think the problem is on my end. I tried the "fadeout", "transparent" etc options, but it didn't help. I think it has something to do with "culling".

That was the advantage of Speedtree, not much could go wrong.  You could PM shimonko or DP, not many others check in any more.

I got a reply from Xfrog...he suggested turning on "Transparency". I had already tried that. I sent him a couple of screenies of what I'm looking at with my drop down choices. Maybe he'll see something. I let you know if we get it working.

What file format are they using for the pedal image?

Hi BSilvernail, the tree is FBX. Here's the response I received from Xfrog..."What format are you using with Unity? Basically, you want to turn on transparency for the leaves and petals. All our geometry is flat or simple, and we use scans of the real flower petals and leaves with transparency map/clip map/alpha map-whatever Unity calls it"

Well, if I get into the mood to look into it one day, looks like some sort of shader issue. It looks like to make it work I'll have to go into PS. (which I don't have) Something else to put on my to-do list...lol

 This video seems relevant.

I used to make Q3 maps, there were occasions where items appeared like that in the editor but rendered ok in-game. That pic is from the editor, how does it look in-game?

Hey Mulligan...thanks for the input. I tried it with "standard" and "transparent" but a no-go. But, every time I build the course I'll try a different setting. Who knows, maybe I'll find the magic combo!  :D

Btw Jugador, thanks for the newest course with animations, sky box and I think you included a pano in there as well. These courses breathe new life into PG and extend it's life for a while, and the courses look great.

Did you try modifying the alpha cutoff to .50

Did you try modifying the alpha cutoff to .50

meaning the shader value for alpha cutoff.  Look at the leaves on a speed tree it has an alpha cutoff variable on the shader, it likely needs to slide until it looks how you want.

Hey Stingreye...thanks for the input. I'm pretty sure I've tried what your talking about. Here's a couple of screenies showing how it works fine with a flower I have, but not with the tree petals.

Ok you did everything I would, the last couple things to check.

Go to the inspector on the texture.

Check to see what it says for:

Alpha Source

Alpha is transparency

and I think the sRGB box

Compare those to the one that works.

Okay, I think I made a little headway with this issue... :D

Here's a few screenies showing what I did and a link to the Utube tutorial I found. (good ole Utube folks!)

The "magic cut" function with Photopea is pretty neat.  https://www.photopea.com/

Hey guys...I was having a little more difficulty with certain textures. Here's an idea that worked pretty good.
