With the Ryder Cup starting in a few days I thought I would check out Bethpage Black with my usual RTSM at Pro level.  Played the 1st 9 holes tonight at +3 which isn't too bad since I hardly ever play PG anymore.

The follow camera is still better than any of the EA Sports or 2K games.  In addition no game has ever matched the replay options that PG has.

Bethpage with some very long par 4's highlights the dated club distances.  Today's PGA pros are hitting their drivers over 300 yards whereas the carry distance for the driver in PG is 276 yards.  Makes long courses like Bethpage even tougher.

Not sure why PG is still for sale at Steam and suspect there are very few sales.  I hope to see PG go the route of Links where the community takes it over and programs changes such as increased club distances and the option to save more than one round at a time.  With these changes and still the best swing method (RTSM) for any golf game ever released it would be the only game I play.

I know nothing of how Steam operates, but I also am pretty surprised they are still allowed to sell it.

It's complete, zero support, abandonware and has been for like 7 years now.

Perhaps because there's no-one on the other end checking this stuff

Distances tied to player profiles is one of many, many features a modern golf game could have.
