I play 3 click on this game which makes for a level playing field, yes i have 2 xbox controllers wired and wireless both of which have been modified on the right or left thumb stick to hit 100% straight every time.

I will always play 3 click and not use the controllers, when setting or hosting a game on TW 2008 you can check what swing type your opponent has,i suggest ?PP should impliment some thing similar on game set up

That does it!

argon, thank you for your contribution and your comment is absolutely valid, I'm sure.

Still...

Would it be possible to create a specialised thread for anything pertaining to "Cheats, Exploits and Cheat Avoidance?" The reason I ask is because lots of contributors seem to care about these issues, whereas I do not. Not a bit.

Also, I think it's a bit unfair of you to generalize away and expose all xbox controller players as potential cheaters. I'm not one of them, but if I were, that would not go down well with me. One of the most fundamental pillars of the game, both in real life as online, is trust. I refuse to let trust issues soil my gaming experience.

Again, nothing against your opinions, OP.

He does have a good point, yes not all Xbox controller users are not cheats, but, there needs to be a setting for online play where you set allowed control.

I know that even in the PC world people can ensure a 100% straight hit every time, one I have seen is two pieces of wood glued to a table, and move the mouse up and down for the swing, 100% every time.

Best answer I guess is to play with people you know, or join some kind of group where you know cheats don't exist

For me, three click is the most unnatural way to play computer golf, but that's just me. As for my controller, I guess I would have to tear it apart to discover how to zero out the axis. Of course that would also make it impossible to use the stick to shape my shots too. :)

I don't understand these unfounded cheat accusations one single bit.

One day it's all Motionswingers that are cheating, the next day it's the controller guys that are cheating.

As have been stated before, swing path is just part of the things that determine where the ball ends up. In this game tempo is more key to making a good shot than your swing path.

Ever hear of keyboard macros? How many times have you heard a 3 click player accused of cheating just because they outscored a clicker/mouse swinger?

Did you get your ass handed to you buy a controller player/motion swinger and just because of that they must be cheaters?

Are you sure it's not just because you simply sucked compared to the other guy?

There are people who will always find a way to cheat with any type of controller. The need to beat others is too strong in them or they just want to do so.

Might I suggest putting in a "Black List" or "Blocked List" if you prefer. Thus if during a round you feel someone is cheating you can add them to the list so when YOU start a session that person won't be able to join you?

I played with an Xbox controller at TGC and never cheated and I don't own any modified controllers. Makes me wonder why you have them. But anyway I could care less about cheaters because they only cheat themselves. The title of this post saying "Beware of the Xbox controller players" Insinuates that all Xbox controller players are cheaters.

Something else too, if you modified your controller, wouldn't it be impossible or very difficult to play other games. I couldn't imagine playing Forza with a zero x axis controller for instance.

Edging doesn't work in this game... If you are doing it and you think it does, post a video of your shot results. I don't actually view edging as cheating to be honest. Being able to go straight up and down is really of not much use playing with MS/NA, which is how I play. If you tell me in game that you're doing it, won't matter to me. I have my x-axis offset to compensate for the way I swing so we're even.  :P

If you think hitting in straight line is going to make you a great player on this game at the 'pro' level, well good luck with that.

Cheating? Who cares, and really until such a time that PP starts to turn this game into a credit or monetary winning game, people who write cheats, those nice people who brought out Mombot for instance, aren't going to waste their time. If you think you can write injections and hook their code here, well have at it I guess.

Macros? Same thing, good luck, there's only so much you do with them here.

In the end I don't really care, when the game is in full retail release and we've settled into CC's or teams and there are events to play, matches and everyone has decided on how they're going to shoot - the only players I'll be playing against will be MS/NA ones when it counts. I'll bang around with anyone playing AS or Matches for fun though.

Not buying the cheating claim here. First I can't possibly imagine at this point a way to sheat this game at this point. Whether 3 click or motion swing no two shots in a row are the same as it is the best mechanics I have seen yet in the use of a mouse for a golf game. i have bith wired and wireless Xbox controllers but won't be using them now as I am having to much fun with this motion swing to even consider it. Cheating happened in links but as stated above you know who does and in the end we play this game for fun and the friendships we build and first or last I will just keep smiling and playing.

I enjoy a good nights sleep, a clean conscious insures that.

It's all about FUN to me, so if I win (rarely), or if I lose (frequently),

I still come away with a smile. :)

That's why folks would have more than one controller.

There used to be a Saitek joy pad available in the 90's on PC which actually had a switch built in that allowed user to lock either the horizontal or vertical access of the thumbstick as well as having an auto fire switch too.

It was good for steering in driving games when locked to horizontal axis, but I guess Saitek were not thinking about golf games and the vertical axis when it was developed.

Will the person that has a 'solution' to cheating in any form, i.e. games or life in general, please post it.

Doesn't the fact that so many companies create antivirus and malware apps convince you there  is NO SOLUTION. Any humanly devised solution can be broken by another's humanly deceptive mind.

Discussing cheating is in the same category as discussing politics and religion. May be interesting, but in the end it's fruitless!!

Just as a test a couple nights ago I used a CD case as a straight edge sort of. It works but as they have been telling you Tempo is more important than straight up and down. Even if you edge for straight shots if your tempo is off it's either going left or right of the target.

I have never and never will use an edge device, cheaters always lose.

Yeah, let's talk also about robotic arms. These babies are for sale starting at 3'500 dollars and can be programmed to replicate every motion in 3D very accurately. Some even come with their own camera sensor, so what's going to stop cheaters from buying these, program a perfect swing and just clicking a button to have it at their fingertips, huh?

(=Satire)

A gentleman's game - Best, most succinct statement here. Gold Star to Mike (in my book).
