I am getting closer to the detail. These bunkers seem to be in the right place and sunk down. I will leave the rest of the Photoshop image alignment up to you.  I will be sending out the files to you but probably won't be until in the morning. I still have to check a few things out. Jim

Jim,

I have received the image but I am having issues getting it into Unity. It seems the terrain mesh has a resolution of 575x427 so when I lay the image on the terrain it reduces the resolution of the image. I can see above that you have got it looking good. Im obviously doing something wrong.

Any suggestions?
Thanks again for your help.

I'm kinda surprised you can't just take a jpg and stick it on a unity terrain.

You can just import a .jpg on a Unity terrain if you want to start flat and

do the elevating and sculpting yourself.  I prefer this method at this time as I am designing

a fictional tract.

This was just to explain how I imported this course into Unity. There are other ways. If your doing a real life course, I think it is better to start out with a terrain that is relatively close to the real terrain rather than starting from a flat terrain. I think Joe Habiger has the best method,(if you can get the 1 meter Lidar data). Google is a little off. Their method of getting data seems to be getting the tree tops which makes them look like hills. I have had to flatten a lot of areas. There is a little simpilar way to import from sketchup (in the Google Sketchup thread I did), But with Unity 5, there is a newer object to terrain script. Exporting from sketchup will also export the jpg.

Yes, the lidar data is much better then the Google Earth data, and it's already been post processed so you can simply turn off the "above ground" points to remove the trees, buildings, etc. And with Global Mapper you can simply download online imagery (satellite) to match the elevation data so no need to do all of this image stitching. Then you simply create a grid to whatever size you want (2048x2048, etc) and you export your data out of Global Mapper for further processing the details before importing into Unity. But Global Mapper is not cheap ($450) and the Lidar module is another $450.
