Hehe, can of worms... I did write that TheLighterDark should feel free to stick with it if he wanted. I never intended to demand that he should stop or that he did not have the right to do it. Us oldtimers would never do such a thing. Simply wanted to point out what I deem to be unnecessary pixel pollution and a slightly awkward and futile way to express one's fierce individualism...   but let's not argue this point any more, that would be off-topic.

To actively select him in my settings just to be able to ignore his signature seems a bit of too much work - also, if he did change his signature to "K11 is a grumpy old fart", I would not notice it. So, you crazy young'uns, I'm very sorry I was born... too long ago.  :P

You could probably have the settings amended in your profile in quicker time than it took you to write the above post, lol. Wouldn't really call it too much work. But then like you say, if he changed it to something else, you wouldn't notice. Therein lies the rub.

:D :D :D :D :D :D

I'm just confused as to what you're getting at. I made it myself in Photoshop. It's just a character from one of my favorite video games, League of Legends. I'm not expressing individualism or anything like that, just displaying a creation of my own. As Daz said, there are easy ways for you to deal with it if you'd prefer not to see it, and if you don't want to take that route then you can hold out for a rule change that discards it.

If the sig is too big it may be more interesting than your post. And I think the post should be the main thingy.

OK back to topic :)

Anyone who uses large images in a signature is adding clutter to the forum. A small image or a regular size text signature with or without links is good forum etiquette. :)

@TheLighterDark: I'm sorry I went off on that tangent. Please don't be confused or feel defensive about it in any way. I suppose it comes down to personal taste - and yours is as legitimate and valuable as is mine. I'm not a fan of this sort of bumpersticker and should have kept my own counsel. I apologize for the inconvenience.

We're still off-topic, except perhaps that this issue has netted us 3 more posts each. And now for my own, really well thought-out and crisp signature...

As long as each post has substance and is a contribution to the topic at hand I have no problem with post count.

However, threads like "Count to 1,000,000" or other useless things like that on every forum are nothing but nonsense and really have no place here. It doesn't matter anyways. It's just a number. Anyone who takes it seriously needs to reevaluate their priorities.

That goes for huge images in signatures as well.  They have no relevance.  lol  ;)

I can't see LeeRay's post as I have him blocked, but going from Richard's post it seems he is discussing something that has already been ratified. If you go to your signature properties, the limitations are there for all to see:-

Edit Signature

Your signature may contain:
  • • Any number images
  • • Images of any size
  • • Any number of URLs
  • • Any number of lines

What TheLighterDark and any others with large signatures are doing is completely within forum rules, therefore there is nothing to discuss IMO. If at some point the forum moderators decide to set limitations to signatures, then so be it, and I would think anyone affected would resize their signature accordingly.

If folks don't like these big signatures, I have offered earlier in this thread the way to block signatures from certain users so that it ceases to be a problem.

;)

Can't imagine why anyone would give two hoots whether someone has a signature that they don't care for when as Daz stated you can eliminate it in your settings in about ten seconds.

It comes off as a personal attack when you... Err... Personally attack someone. As Daz mentioned once before, there are ways to change it so you can not see it at all. If you find it to be a problem and don't want to use the aforementioned method, I don't expect any complaints to have any real viability, but what do I know? After all I'm just taking up space and bandwidth with my HUGE signature. ;) (Yes this is all sarcasm).

My image is 150px high. I think your definition of "huge" has gone askew.

DearLighterDark, old coot that I am, I really was not aware that my settings allowed me to block signatures. Now I am. Now I did. Yours. To mark this momentous occasion, I colored up mine in return.

All is well, except for the slighly pungent aftertaste of foot in my mouth. (And yes, this last bit is fake contrition)  :P

If I was an administrator for this website, I would close this topic. The original question asked was:

I may have missed something in the forums, but I was wondering how the progression from Newbie to Member etc works???

That question was completely answered in about 3 replies. Yet, by my count we now have 30 replies, most of which don't even address the original question.

This is not the only topic having relevancy issues. For instance the poll topic concerning operating systems contains numerous posts from many that give descriptions of their whole computer system. People, the topic was a simple poll of what operating system you have. I see no purpose in creating complete hardware and software lists of your system.

IT'S TIME TO GET BACK TO DISCUSSION RELATIVE TO THE GAME AND COURSE FORGE. I enjoy reading many of those posts.

Having said the above, I will now quit posting and watching this topic.

I've blocked yours as well for good measure. Too obstructive for my tastes. I can't read if you're going to take up the whole page.
