What I would like to know, though, is this: How will I be able to make sure that one yard on this Photoshop layout (the grid squares are 10yds each, btw), will match one yard inside the Course Forge???

There should be a way to scale these kind of things if they don't import correctly so that it's as close as possible.

now any work I do on say this hole, I have to do, while looking at it from this view, again, can't turn the plot so that the hole, is facing north to south...

Axe,

I understand what you mean now. I would guess that based on the video that Mike Jones posted of him creating a par 3 hole in Course Forge (in around 15 minutes) he worked on the hole from a variety of angles and the majority of the time in the 3D environment, so I would be 99.9% confident that you will find what you are wanting in Course Forge.

Should happen soon

I just hope Perfect Parallel's 'soon' is not the same as the one used by iRacing, lol.

When iRacing say they will release something soon, it can be anything from a few weeks to several months.

I was just hoping with the new site and forum, that they would back up what they said and be making regular posts and updates, but so far after a week of going live, we haven't really seen much in the way of 'new' updates. There has been a lot of the dev blogs ported across from the old WordPress site, but not really anything we haven't already been made aware of.

I was expecting with all that has been going on behind the scenes and with them having to keep a lid on any announcements there would be plenty to announce, but it seems not. Makes me wonder if NDA's are still in place. I just hope folks with less patience than me are prepared to hang around whilst there is an eerie silence as far as updates are concerned.

Would be nice to see some news on the work Joe has been doing regards player animations, 3D buildings and course objects etc.

I guess we should grateful for what we have got so far.

I'm excited for the course design tool to be made available. Is there anything we can do while we wait to start the process of designing  our courses? Tips on creating textures, etc. that can be imported into the tool.. That sort of thing.

Thanks

Rich

At this point, I doubt the future will be any different than the past with these fellas.  So, get ready to wait.  ;o)

Our Course Forge converter will have a feature to select the area of the world you are interested in in Bing maps and will create an overhead and heightmap for you to import into course forge, fully aligned and ready to go.

I hadn't picked up on the word 'heightmap' previously.

So is it really a case of just tracing the textures, planting tees, pins, trees etc and fine tuning? If so, you are giving yourselves a great chance of getting lots of new real courses ahead of the game release. Wow (again)!

Could someone define "height map"?  Is it as easy as it sounds? Will I be able to import the varying heights of my real life courses I'm replicating?  The 2 local course I'm going to tackle when CF is released are quite hilly, if this is what I think it is it would be AWSUM!!!!

That is my hope too.....my local is hilly in places to. The walk between green on #1 and tee on #2 is not called cardiac hill for not. #2 used to be SI 2 until recently and you'd always be grateful for a delay up ahead to get your breath bak!
