Hi All,

I've decided to dive head first into Unity and get myself up to speed with how it works.   :D

Here is what I have come up with so far  (using just Unity).   It's a view from the tee down to the green protected by a water hazard at the front and bunker at the rear of the green.

Great first attempt, you've mastered several things already then..!

Using Unity and the controls... tick!

Elevations... tick.

Textures.... tick.

Adding Water... tick.

Planting... tick.

Skybox and lighting.... tick.

The CF will be almost second nature to you....!

Thanks Ian.

I must thank Pingzing who pointed me in the right direction.

It took a bit of reading along with trial and error but the basics are not too hard to pick up.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable way to chew up some time!

That looks terrific. You've basically got 95 percent of it already. What CF does is will allow you to create and drop in the course shapes on top of your landscape and turn them into golf holes.

Yeah I imagined that was the function of CF - is there a way to do this in Unity without CF? (I'm thinking it's a case of creating a flat shape and placing it on top of the terrain?)

Nice first go mace. The CF Meshes hover just microns
above the Unity terrain and match the elevations you've
done in Unity. There will be some readymade plots so
you can jump right in. Great job bud.

As has more or less been said.

Course Forge basically lays a blanket over your terrain where you draw out the splines for tees, fairways, rough, bunkers and greens, then position your tee boxes, pins and hole aim points and the remainder is all Unity, which you are already well on the way to familiarizing yourself with.

You can more or less layout the course in Unity alone, but Course Forge is needed to make the courses playable by adding tees and pins. Without this key element of Course Forge, Unity only designed courses would never be playable in Perfect Golf.

Just Kidding but the water looks like the course diver that gets golf balls out of the pond there will need a bathysphere to go down deep good thing it was invented in the 30's  - I'm just kidding its a joke take a break from your work admire it and laugh life is good ....

thanks for the thread

Little known fact when King Arthur was trying to make a golf course and he ran into some conflict. King Arthur: There's a peace only to be found on the other side of war. If that war should come I will fight it!    Other important fact. Read the Book of John in the Holy Bible.

Can we all take some time and reflect on My First attempt who is no longer with us.   :(

My SSD died and along with it my work on Unity.   Good lesson to learn about backing up before I get in to course forge proper!
