One of the features requested early-on with PG was the option to play the game in windowed mode , and not be forced to play the game in Full Screen.  This option is huge for me, it's one of the reasons I still enjoy Links 2003.  If you have never tried it you might find not having to minimize the game very convenient, especially with dual monitors.

I use multiple monitors and need access to my Taskbar at all times. Thanks again PP for this feature!

No, I've never played in windowed mode. If I need access to my taskbar I just minimise PG using the Windows key.

Full screener here.  Just alt-tab if I need something or shift-tab for Steam messaging.

Full screen user here too.  I do not like borders when playing games distracting from the view.

I pretty much always use windowed mode with all my games - force of habit!

Never considered using window mode. It seems simple enough to just Alt-tab out to other windows as necessary.

I'll have to give windowed mode a go to see if I like it.

Love windowed mode, but I'd go full screen with a huge monitor.

Never play windowed mode - with Links or with PG.

I play windowed mode in PG - 1920x1080.

This is the resolution of the monitor I used to play Links 2003 on, but since PG gathered momentum during EA I don't play Links 2003 anymore, have got a new larger monitor (2560x1440) but still like playing PG at the same resolution I played Links 2003 and early PG at.

Other games I play I run at full-screen. Who knows, I may convert PG to full screen one day, lol.

Is it right that window mode can grab a few extra fps? i play most games windowed borderless, don't think pg has that option does it?

Just experiment. Run windowed mode and play one hole then close the game. Go to settings and play full screen mode with the same resolution that you used into windowed mode. Play the same hole and watch your FPS. Take FPS notes during this experiment.

This is my current dual screen setup. A wide monitor directly in front of me and a standard LCD to the right. Don't need two wide screens. Besides, I have three backup 19" 4:3 ratio monitors. Might as well put them to use.

At the time I took this picture with a digital camera I was working on a computer in Chicago using TeamViewer. The Chicago computer is on the right screen.

I can do this same thing in full screen mode with two monitors.

I simply use the windows key whenever I want to multitask.  Why would I not want to use fullscreen exclusively?  Seems very cumbersome an idea.

I gave windowed mode a shot today and rather liked it. As Crusher stated, it definitely makes multitasking easier. While I can play full screen and still see my other screen, as soon as click into the other screen, PG minimizes.

So playing in windowed mode makes it more seamless. I'll rarely use it but, in certain instances it surely has its advantages.

Would be nice to see a borderless windowed option.

According to their forums, the download URL seems to have been broken since mid November. Someone posted an aternative URL to use, which will download a ZIP file with the .exe in it

https://steamcommuni...ing_2.1.0.1.zip

Instructions for removing border are:-

  • Run the app and start up a game.
  • Make sure you run the game in windowed mode before adding it to the app.
  • After you have set your game to run windowed, click the app's tray icon and select "Add window"
  • Go back to your game and while the game window is active press "F3"
  • Your game should now be in windowed border-less mode, your settings are saved so the app will recognize your game whenever it runs in windowed mode again and automatically set it to be borderless.

It does work with PG too.

I'm not sure what multi-tasking needs to be done while playing PG, but if playing online against others, I know there times where I've sat wondering, "What the heck is he doing, hit the ball already!"  Are they multi-tasking while playing such games?  I guess that might be the encouragement to multi-task and, therefore, play in windowed mode.

Does the borderless option prevent you from inadvertently changing the window size or what is the purpose for that?  To state the obvious .... full screen already doesn't have a border (except your monitor/TV, of course!).  ;)

I only multitask while playing casually. I'd never do that for online play! And for 90% of my solo play it's full screen mode anyway.

Just nice to have options.

Useful for dual monitors. You run the game at the native resolution on your main monitor, except it's really a borderless window. The purpose? You can slide your mouse right out of the game onto the other monitor and irritate your friends via IM, check your email, refresh the various PP Forum threads complaining about the monthly fee, you name it.

Real fullscreen traps your mouse in the game.

Tried it and it didn't work for me unfortunately.  The game screen was just black.
