A quick guide for players new to Steam on how to play your own music while gaming on Steam.

Click on Steam in top right corner of client then go to settings.
Click on Music tab on the right side, then direct folder browser to your windows music folder.
Then click the scan now button.
(The Scan Steam folders for soundtracks check box is for owned game soundtracks).
When your music files have been scanned click OK to close the settings.

Click on library tab in steam and in the drop down box click music.
You should now see your music library.
You can select between playlists/albums/artists on the tab along from search.
To view music player click the music note icon on far right.
To bring up your music player in game hold Shift & click Tab.

Enjoy.

I was just looking into this yesterday in the Steam settings menu, but couldn't find any information on how to play the music in the game.  My research (apparently, not very good research!) suggested it was only available on certain game titles.  Thanks for the info!

Glad I could help.

It does on the computer, anyway ....  I'm not really keen on playing music while on the real course (and I'm only 47 yrs old!)  :D

I just open iTunes or fire up Google Play Music on the second screen. Granted I'm old school. I do agree it's a must to have some jams in the background during a round of computer golf. Hate when someone in my group IRL has music playing.
