Today The Golf Club was released to public by HB Studios on Steam. I have purchased the game and will be playing tonight. I will definitely be posting my early thoughts. Can't wait to actually design and play tonight!

Nice to see they have included a mouse swing (TruSwing/RealTime Swing) as well as analogue controller.
Now it is open to Early Access purchasers, this can only benefit the game is it goes forward as it is now effectively a buy-in open beta.
Just gave it a quick 9 holes and it is progressing nicely, but still some gameplay issues to be ironed out IMO.

Not at the mo' Ian.
Only given it a quick try out after purchasing Early Access. I have been in the Closed BETA and the game has definitely improved since Build 1. Early Access is effectively Build 5.
Still suffers with poor graphics optimization and poor FPS. Even my system running the game at highest settings (1920x1080) struggles past 30 FPS. This on a machine I can run Assetto Corsa, iRacing, Path of Exile, Company of Heroes, The Secret World (etc.) all at highest settings and well over 100 FPS in some instances.
New mouse swing very much like RTS in Links 2003, so offers an alternative to Analogue Controller.
Ball physics still a bit patchy, especially with some shots landing on green. Hit a 3 wood that flew around 240 yds and landed on green like a PW from 120 yds would, lol.
Now they have Early Access the beta community will increase ten fold, so at least expect HBS to have plenty to work on on the coming weeks/months.

Thanks Daz... it's certainly not for me then based on that playability.

I may take a look at it since I am a RTS'er in Links 2003. How do I get there to get it and what is the cost?

It appears to be a Steam download Jerry... so you should find everything you need within there.

Like Ian says, it is a Steam Early Access game.
Prices vary around the world. Currently $34.99 in North America with a first week discount of 15% making it $29.74. After first week it will revert back to $34.99.

I am tempted to purchase this since I have been waiting for CourseForge for around a year and a half now with no release in sight. I have learned quite a bit in Unity but it is frustrating not being able to get the details and assets I'd like and not knowing if all I have done so far has been a waste of time since most of the course will have to be re-done. Plus with the real golf season starting soon, there will be a lot less time behind the computer.
Even my girls had a talk with Mr. Forge without any luck, or any reply. lol

I purchased the early access to see how the game plays in relation to other previous golf games
but unfortunately the game will not work on my MAC and my laptop specs just cannot handle the game
as it constantly crashes before loading....looks like i will have to wait for PP

I think they are working on a Mac port but are concentrating on the PC Early Access at the moment and also the agreements with Microsoft and Sony for their consoles.

One more question. Does the Early Purchase qualify yuo for "Updates" and a copy of the "Final" too?

I too purchased the early access and played with the course designer. The performance of the game is very sluggish right now and the course designer is confusing to say the least. I'll check again in a few weeks when there is hopefully a new update. At least there is something to look at with the early access beta. Not sure why PP hasn't done that too since they had a closed beta a while ago..

Maybe simply because they don't want to release something sluggish .... ??

I wonder if it would work on XP .... just that they don't write that out , since XP no longer has support !?
Graphic card ... How does my card stand against a ": DX11 compatible video card with 1GB video RAM "

Quote from The Golf Club's website:
"We are excited ............. Everyone buying the game on PC at this stage receives an automatic upgrade to the final, full PC version for no extra cost."
I deleted the middle part , since it felt like a direct promotion for TGC ...... maybe not the right forum to do so .....
