hi all

is there some kind of trick to setting a avatar.

i see lots have them but i can't seem to get one uploaded.

Mine was done in the old forum using gravatar, not sure if that still applies on the new site

Dave,

Under the image banner on the forums, click on the little triangle to the right of your name and then select 'My Settings' from the available options.

Then on the 'My Settings' page, the first option in the 'General Account Settings' is 'Photo' so click on the 'Change Photo' button.

You will then see the 3 options for adding an avatar. Upload image from your PC, import from an internet URL or add an image from Gravatar.

daz one more question i see you are an advanced member what is the difference from reg member to advanced

I've gotten it to work using both "Upload from File" and "Import a Photo from a URL." You might want to watch the size of your photos, maximum is 50kb, if I recall correctly.

Post count. I think 30 will bump you up.

i guess size matters i was able to make smaller and it worked through upload from pc

thanks for the tip. besides after that database error my gravatar  took a hike

I think its just an inbuilt feature of the forum, where the member status changes based upon your post count. I don't get any additional forum privileges, its just a cosmetic appearance thing, lol.
