How do you feel about the putt start direction in the game?

I think it's fine, though I'm more accurate on PG than in real life. I've only had PG since the recent putting update was released so I can't compare it to how it was before. Imo, if the game has to err, it's probably better to err a bit toward making more putts than I deserve, rather than toward missing putts I should've made. I think the latter would make me crazy.

Also a lot of the courses in JNPG have more break than courses we'd play in real life, especially around the holes, so I think it balances out rather well. I find the new update has worked wonders for the putting as before you only really had to judge the speed.

Unfortunately, even with the new changes, it's still not workable for scoring. I'm having to forego the tournaments now, I just can't scramble or hole anything with the sensitivity of the horizontal numbers. My mat that I hit off adds to the issue i'm sure, but there's not much i can do off a standard CCE mat thats only 6 months old. Not sure how others are getting great rolls from their mats.
I wish they would add an option in the ST panel to check a box to disregard the V alignment on putting. Would make private games a lot more fun for me and the family.

Its brutal. Really. Or give us 15ft gimmies so ST'ers dont have to putt.
I can;t afford $5K for a GC2. The ST is just not built for finesse. It's really killing my enjoyment of the game. I hope others chime in.

I'm not getting any issues with SkyTrak putting. Actually it feels and responds just the way I would expect. Putting no-reads will always happen using any launch monitor and currently they are few and far between. The longer putts no longer magically find a perfect line as it's possible to miss left or right if you pull or push the putts. Shorter putts get 'straightened out' as that is where SkyTrak has a real problem, reading the balls data correctly. These putts can be tricky as well because as in real life, getting the balance between ball speed and break has to be judged just right.

I'm using a CCE matt as well and it hasn't got a smooth surface as I've had it between 1-2 years and it's had a lot of use so I wonder what could be causing this issue for you. I would post a table with all of the ball data from 10 putts each from 5ft, 10ft, 20ft, 30ft and also include how far left or right each putt misses by (or indeed if the putt goes in). Try to putt as straight as you can and disregard any putts that you feel you didn't hit really straight. Test at Woody's so you have a perfectly flat green and use Practice Mode for ease.

For example;

(10ft putts)

Putt No. Ball Speed Launch Angle Launch Direction Spin Rate Spin Axis In game Ball direction

18 4.8 1.1 -1.6 423 -0.4 missed 4" LEFT

I would then do another test keeping everything the exact same but replacing the CCE matt with a surface which is flatter. If you do this then there is every chance we'll get to the bottom of your issue and have you playing in tournaments again! It's a shame to have to go to these lengths but as you mention yourself we're dealing with hardware limitations and not everyone can afford a GC2.

EDIT: It's almost as if you aren't using the putting fix that was released a few weeks ago which is odd as it was part of a standard update through Steam. There is a button in the Console which reads, 'SET PUTTING MODE'. I haven't experimented with it and don't even know if it toggles the assist on and off. If it does and if it remembers the setting after you restart the game then perhaps that's your fix right there. Unfortunately there is no visual aid to show you if it is ON or OFF.

Agreed.

If you could post the data as Haho has mentioned then hopefully we can get to the bottom of it, as there are many users who can putt pretty damn well using ST and JNPG.

Just to confirm what build number of JNPG are you on, you can find out in the Steam Library, right click JNPG - Properties - Local Files

At the bottom youll see itll say build number.

I don't want to spend 4 hours doing testing for something that i won't be able to fix, nor care about much. I would just like an option to stop it from using wild 5* horizontal launch angles in the putting shot selection. I don't want to use it for tourneys, nor online comps. Just for the sheer enjoyment of me and my guests that now find the game ruined. It's no JNPG's fault, but they have the power to enable a fix in the SkyTrak HUD.

What are you looking for exactly, we already have a putt out feature if you dont want to putt and 8 foot gimmies.  Are you looking for a 15ft putt out feature with one stroke added?

Whats the putt out feature? Is that the icon? I've clicked that in the past and nothing happens. Putt out i suppose would be ok, but it does take the only bit of fun out of the greens - trying to read it and get the speed.
Toggling a "Putt Direction Override" would be better - then it's line and speed in the SIM not the equipment.

Putt out works just fine

From gimme range to 10ft gives a 1putt, >10 a 2 ft. I believe those distances are correct

I think what your essentially asking for is an easy putt setting in the skytrak sim connect interface, that basically due to environmental issues, and in certain individual cases, hardware limitations, which would disregard the offline reading and have all putts launch at 0 degree Horizonal and vertical launch angle, so as you say it will purely be then a matter of clicking the screen in the right place and getting the speed right.

I'm assuming you have no further interest in trying to correct your individual circumstance, understandably so if you have exhausted all avenues in terms of setup changes etc. it is puzzling as to why some skytraks work great while others experience such issues, must just be as I say environment, and hardware tolerances all vary I guess

I'll try the putt out for sure. Never knew that was an option.
But your synopsis is correct. "Easy Putt" I think is a bit glib, but line and speed would be the factors in the stroke.
Fractions of a degree in real life are the difference, as are spike marks and imperfections. Trying to use a Skytrak with minuscule margin for error seems ambitious.

Just a PS to this : it's not JNPG's fault at all. In fact the physics on the green are commendable. It's the frustration that the hardware may not be able to consistently show the best of the software that's a problem. i know that bifurcation will irk some.

Where can I find this "putt out" feature. I am also having an issue with this and would like to try the game with this setting enabled.

It is the flag icon on the semi circle of buttons in the bottom right. When it on green it needs a "firm" click, ie not just a quick click but a very "deliberate" mouse click,
