Looking at the lie, it appears to be about 2 1/2 feet below the avatar's feet.  In real life I doubt a golfer could hit the shot your golfer did unless he was left handed.  A right handed golfer would probably have to hit it backwards out the bunker.  I don't know anything about coding but I would think it would be difficult to program this situation.  Specifically, there is no room for a right handed golfer to stand in the bunker between the ball and the bunker face to execute a swing.  Secondly if a right handed golfer's stance was outside the bunker he would probably have to be on his knees which would make the shot a very tough one.

Yup.

I got a laugh though when I swung for the heck of it and it hit the ball even though the club as several feet above the ball.

Yeah, gonna be some weird stances for sure.  At least the ball doesn't just get moved out of the bunker cause the ani looks weird.  :)

Pot bunkers have been requested for quite a while now, and they look great. Now it's time for a little more patience and let them work out the issues such as those posted above. :)

what's shocking is that even in this day and age we still have to suspend realism in a golf game, i bet you can even get a driver out and hit that 250 yds!

Can anyone show how other games get around this issue, if they actually manage to do so?

I know Links didn't, as the ani always stood addressed to the ball irrespective of the stance/lie and would often be half buried in the terrain.

I guess this is a conundrum PP have set themselves, even more so now pot bunkers are in play.

It seems to me that this would be very difficult (I hesitate to say impossible, but it's approaching impossible) to program so even though I always strive for things to be as "sim" as possible this is definitely an areas where I think we all just have to realize it's a video game.

I certainly wouldn't want PP to start focusing on THIS issue at the moment.  Come back to it later after all the other items have been addressed.

When I swing at this shot it should miss. Simple as that? That way I have to splash it out of the bunker backwards.

I was responding to mebby's comment about being difficult to program. What would I do in real life? I'd hop in and splash it out the back, then lie about it on my scorecard.   :P

Being able to pronounce a ball unplayable (rule 28) should be the best option I think. Sometimes you have to take your medicine. Having an Ani doing circus acts is not realistic (Seve aside :D). Not having this option (ball unplayable) at this time is also something to wonder about. Why isn't it already a part op JNPG?..
