Easyroads3D Question

Best Answer Jimbobh , 29 November 2016 - 01:19 AM

Best I could do for now, a little shaky but I haven't used EasyRoads in a while so I tend to forget things, lol.

No Captions so you'll just have to follow the mouse.

Still smoothing and painting to do, and a little z-fighting to take care of.

Result in JNPG

Hello guys,

Is it true that if we use easyroads3D that we have to take out of the project before creating the course.

I want to use it, but how can I keep my road and the texture made by easyroads, if I have to delete it before I create my course.

Thank you

We don't officially support the use of easyroads but I think you can just remove the easyroads scripts folder.

I just tried using it, but I don't see my car path in Perfect Parallel just in Unity.

Is there someone using it with the road and texure of Easyroad and can help me making it work in Perfect Parallel Please.

Thank you

Think you need to finalise it, to be able to see it in game.

You need to make sure the road is actually on the default layer in your inspector as sometimes easyroads just sticks it in a blank layer which doesn't show up in PG.

Also, Make sure your road Material shader is NOT in Road Edit Mode. Change it to standard or diffuse or whatever you like to use.

I'm not sure where to click and look guys.
Mike, when you tell me to be sure that the layer is default in the inspector. On what should I click in the hiarchy with my car path there's a lot of file that easyroad create.

And jimbobh, where do I find that road material shader.

Thank you guys, I need to know I to make easyroad work, because I want to use it for to make street and Hyway near my golf course.

Thanks again for your help.

You should have something called path or road in your hierarchy, click that and you will be able to see the information in the inspector window. Either that or you can click directly on it in the main editor window.

Ok I see now, but Mike if I look at the picture of Jimbobh, the layer is blank.

Jimbobh does it work in Perfect Parallel, you are able to see your road even if the layer is blank. Mike is saying it should be at default?

I appreciate all your answer guys, you are very kind.

Thanks

Works fine once you finalize it. Add the physics material also, And also, I believe it has to be re-named adding "spline" to the name. example: spline_road 1  This is so the golfer will stand on top of the road, but Mike will have to verify this. Things might have changed since CF 1.5

Once you finalize the road, the layer becomes default

Hi Jimbobh,

How do you finalize the road? And add the physic material?

I know that I'm asking a lot, but once I know how to do it, I will know it for good. Do you have a video that show all that for CF.

I want to use it a lot in my course. Hope I'm not asking to much.

Thank you Jim, your are very kind and by the way your course in that picture look so good, is it out to play it?

In my opinion Easy Roads look good from a distance but on many courses I've played the road layer seems to float above the terrain, which is one reason I've not used it.

I am using a paid version of EasyRoads I got a couple years ago, so I am not familiar with the free version. I will have to load up the free version in to a different project and see what the differences are. Finalizing the road might be a little different. Then I can make a tutorial.

I also usually don't add the roads until most of my sculpting is done and back up the terrain before each road is made.

My course pictured is not out yet, but hopefully Soon.

Hi Jimbob,

I got the paid version (version 2), so can you explain to me how to finalize and add the physic material? I want to use it on my course that I'm working on.
I will do like you said for adding the road at the end. So if you have a tutorial with the paid version (don't have to be very long) That will be be so helpfull Jim.

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate.

Meanwhile you can just use my 'fix' above.

"You need to make sure the road is actually on the default layer in your inspector as sometimes easyroads just sticks it in a blank layer which doesn't show up in PG."

You can click the blank layer area and it will give you the option to change it to default.

Mike,

I did change it to default and create the golf course. He did work, but now the layer of the road is back to blank. If I understand, for the time that Jimbobh show me how to finalize the road to keep de default layer, I will have to put the default layer for all my road before creating my course.

Thank you

I've never had a road change it's layer once I've changed it to default but then again if I use easy roads I delete all the easyroads stuff in the hierarchy apart from the actual road itself.
