I've got a tangential question for anyone who knows this stuff. SAS Planet saves a kml file with the sat imagery which Global Mapper uses to align with the elevation data. I'm trying to get some data from a site that requires a shapefile of the area I want. Anyone know how to turn the kml into a shapefile?
When the kml is open in Notepad it pretty much just has NSEW coordinates. Global Mapper won't even open it, but Google Earth opens it and draws a square over the right area, so in GE I drew a polygon, exported it as a new kml, and used GM to convert it to a shapefile. GM opens this shapefile, but it simply shows - a square. Don't think that'll be enough.
