I am interested in exploring the question of downloading Lidar data and imagery of the associated area and marrying them together to create a file which can be used in Unity and CF.  I have followed Joe's tutorials with great interest and have looked at SAS Planet etc.  I think I must be particularly dumb because I am still unable to download lidar data, acquire imagery files, join them together and create a usable unity package.  I have looked on Youtube and the tutorials there are all extremely technical.  Does anyone know of a tutorial which would take me step by step through the process and enable me to contribute to the community effort.

You can obtain USA Lidar from this site: https://viewer.nationalmap.gov/basic/

Zoom to your course of interest, click the "Box/point" at top of window and draw a box around the course.

Check the box on left  "Elevation Source Data (3DEP)" and make sure "Lidar Point Cloud" is checked.

Then at top click "Find Products"

You can then download the files you need.  Once downloaded, they will need to be unzipped.

Then follow Joe's tutorials

Checked it out. Found an area for Lidar data. Downloaded it. Needs another program to translate it (xml). Way too much time spent and I'm still not even at the great tutorials Joe made. I'm sorry but making it so you have to jump through so many hoops (each which might include a perplexing and seemingly insolvable problem) is not my idea of a course building program. And then, even if I can get it imported, I have to deal with Unity (which I was prepared for). Makes me really respect those who have done such fine work (Cypress Point, Pebble Beach), and envy them. My frustration cup runneth over!
