[Greensboronclion]

There has been a lot of talk about controllers and I am always trying to compare how they compare and today I did and they are very interesting.  This was at the OGT Controller event at Pacific Dunes and what led me to do it was my low scoring there and for me its pretty low and I wanted to know if it was just me getting better or the controller and after the 4th round I have come to the conclusion that its just me getting better and especially with the putter.  One thing of note is the stats are below is that Pacific Dunes is one of my favorite courses and its pretty easy to hit fairways and greens as the they are very wide and hard to miss so take that with a grain of salt but here we go.

Now I also played a round with the Xbox 360 at Pebble Beach and shot about the same at 76 as that is a much harder course and tougher to hit fairways so the Xbox controller to is just about the same as the DS4.  These scores were at Pro as I am not ready for the TP tour yet but my putting has been getting much better since I figured it out and that is where you gain or lose your strokes.  I didn't post this to get negative comments as that is not what this is about its about some who think that the Xbox controller is the only controller worthy of this game as it is equal to the DS4 in skill required and the same with the Elite and there is no advantage to any of those three pads.  If I had to play with either of the three I would score pretty much the same and what is needed with all of them is that you have to swing the club right as if not you will go all over the lot as I did with the DS4 at PB in one of the rounds there this week where I think I hit 5 fairways and about the same amount of greens.  I welcome comments on this and again its not about anything other than whats above.

I've played extensively with the DS4 (almost all of my RTS-C time until the last few weeks) and am now on an XB1s controller and find it much more challenging, nuanced and sensitive.

 

I really think the game isn't playing quite as hard as it's designed to play when the user is playing with a DS4.

My findings exactly....PS4 is good, Xbox One and Elite controllers are simply incredible with this game.

I agree wholly with Buck and Divot.  I started out playing with the DS4 and when I first tried the XB1 controller I thought they were roughly equal and that I was just not as used to the XB1 controller.  But now that I've played extensively with the XB1 controller, when going back to the DS4, the differences are very apparent.

 

I really feel like the game is more difficult with the XB1 controller.  Oddly enough, the Nvidia Shield controller (the brand new one) is much more difficult and sensitive than the XB1 controller.  So much in fact that it's difficult to keep that little dot straight while changing your shot loft!!

Interesting thought there...

The launch angle dot thing is indeed a good way to sort of get a feel for the side to side sensitivity of a given controller..

Guys I have never tried the Xbox one as I have the Xbox360 but m8ght invest in one just for the heck of it. I will say this that it's much easier with either controller using the left stick over the right. The DS4 fits my hands better than the 360 but I could shoot The same with each. The Xbox one is intriguing.

Definitely grab an XB1 and give it a shot.

Its almost like a trade off as you lose accuracy and distance in the simulator but your putting and short game is much better.  It seems every swing and or control method has its disadvantages and advantages but in the end it all evens out I believe.  Good info Z.

Only a few sim players would even dare play with a pc player.  Shanky(golf instructor) and myself are the exceptions.  I can almost hang with a RTSM Pro and RTSC Tour Pro when my swing is on.  I can probably beat an RTSM Tour Pro.  

 

When I play guys in Teamspeak, I'm on Members while the pc guys are on Championship.   It makes our matches fun and interesting.
