Ok, don't know what I did but instead of having a doc. looking file in my library that is a .CFL file

I now have a Unity Scene black and white Icon instead of the usual white doc. looking file.

If I hove over it, it say's its a CFL file and things seem to be working ok but I hate to have this.

Here is a pic of what I see now. This is not right and I hope someone can tell me how to get the correct icon.

axe360,

Did you're proposed fix work?  I'd uninstall Unity completely and then reinstall it, as that seems to have taken over your computer and associating many file types with Unity.  Check closely what file associations it makes during the install.

Similar to what we did with 7-ZIP, you should be able to do the same with *.CFL files.  I'm not sure what program is supposed to open them, but if you right-click and choose open with, you should be able to find a program you're expecting the CFL file to open with, rather than Unity.  Doing so should also correct the icon, like it did with RAR files and 7-zip (by the way, the "R" on the folder is the correct icon for RAR files associated with 7-zip - for some reason I couldn't respond to the PM).

That file is supposed to be there and no worries with it being CFL. It stands for "Course Forge Library", I suppose. Not sure if my computer shows that same Unity icon but it's not a file to be opened or read or altered in any way. It carries your Layers Library data. The specific file you are looking at contains the "default" Layers Library data.

If you ever desire to load a library in a new project, the CFL file is what you would navigate to from the CF Layers Library load button in Unity.

All I need is any designer to tell me what program opens up there CFL file and I would know what to change it to.

I realize you never open that file but I would like it to show the right icon. I just like everything to show up in the right form.

I did a full reinstall of Unity and same thing.

Again, I a designer could tell me what program is associated with  their CFL file, would be really helpful.

Thanks Armand. No it didn't work. I don't have a clue what program opens it as it's always changed to the Unity Icon.

You see guys it's like this. With my last computer something had happened and I could NEVER see the Unity Icon, it got changed to a generic folder. Now on my new computer, I can see the Icons, even when I shouldn't lol.

It all still seems to work fine but I was hoping one of you with this kind of experience would be able to help me make it right.

I have to ask and do my own research but at least things still work and I can continue, its just freaking drives me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's start here. Can someone take a pic or tell me if in their Default Programs, .CFL has the Unity Icon across from it, like this?

Thanks for the help.

It sounds like DPRoberts knows what he's talking about - that you shouldn't have ANY program associated with it, as it shouldn't be opened outside of CF (if it is the layers library).

You can get rid of (reset) the icon for the CFL files by editing the registry ... HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.CFL .. delete the entire key (from the left pane).

Send me the CFL and I'll try and see what it is to confirm DPRoberts' information.

I guess no one could have gotten me a pick like this because now that I have it fixed, it doesn't show up in this program anyway.
