I've tried tgc2 recently and I received a refund. Very arcadish after playing this game.

Did you try it with Tour, or at least Player clubs?  If you didn't try Tour clubs, I can see where you would come away with an "arcadish" characterization of the game.  I hope you didn't form your opinion based on the default, Standard clubs... I could play the game blindfolded with both thumbs tied behind my palm with Standard clubs.

Because at the time of my post it was the only ‘new content’ in this whole super active forum. Also I believe that someone else made the same point. I don’t recall any other poll question behaving the same. I’m sure that you will correct me if I’m wrong.

I am not one to comment when addressed, but wouldn't it be easier if you just ignore the topic and not be bothered by it, which it seems you are.   The PG forum is pretty much DEAD and here we are in off topic and some still complain.   Geez..

Why are my replies, even in off topic, keep getting deleted?

Where are RobV's posts going that should be in here?

They seem to show up only after letting the page sit here for about 5 min and the "show more posts" modal at the top appears eventually.

Some really strange database stuff seems to be going here lately..

Did you try playing it using Tour clubs, or at the very least, Player clubs?  The game defaults to Standard clubs which are insultingly easy to play with, and would play to what could be considered "arcadish".  I play using Tour clubs, and while the game is still not quite as challenging as I'd like, it's still a pretty far cry from what I would consider arcadish.

Can anybody see this?

For some reason the off topic area threads are an abyss which is swallowing up posts and almost never displaying them..

Let me have a look at the old Crystal Ball (no not my wife - the other one).

Well, when PG fizzles out it looks like I'll be playing the new bug-free, graphically beautiful, stutterless, free-to-play golf simulation which has servers on all continents - especially the sub-continent and Asian countries with 600,000 members (and rising) involved in a vibrant ELO as well as professional tournaments with first-class communication and frequent updates from a new developer dedicated to the sim itself.

But in the meantime I'll occasionally check in to the PG lobby in the hope there will be more than 23 players and forlornly look for a game. Sigh.

I wonder if I should have titled this poll:

"What game will you be playing once we realize there is no PG2 and the PG1 servers turn off"?

Lol
Joking (I think?..)...but hoping I'm not actually close to the mark...

I see you are the 2 unaccounted for "Other" votes.
Curious...what game would you be playing?

The lack of news around here made me fire up my PS3 (which is always ready due to being used for NHL Legacy) and Tiger Woods 2014 The Masters..

Man - It made me really bummed with where EA went with Rory.

TW14 plays an AWESOME and really really fun round of golf.  The shot variety you can get is amazing, the course list (I had all the add-ons) is great...They had such a phenomenal base product there that it's no wonder Rory faltered commercially as it was such a huge back step in features, fit and finish.  Rory had great graphics, but it was super shallow on the whole and they never did any of the adding to it they talked about.

My vote in this thread I think would firmly be PS3 TW14 if PG weren't around.

The only drag is "when will EA shut off the servers"..

The interesting thing there is that I logged in and there are LOADS of people playing, right now, mid day on a Tuesday (in the US anyhow).

It made me wonder if a ton of the EA golf fans either never went to Rory or went back to TW14 after not too long.

They have more people online playing, right now, a 4+ year old game, than PG basically ever does.  I know, I know - mainstream, huge install base, etc...

It's still notable how many people are playing that game, to this day.

And after playing a round at Pebble there in the last hour, I can see why.

Super engaging gameplay, especially on the higher settings with anything gimmicky turned off.

I played my first two rounds of Q School Tour (or some name like that) at Pebble & Oakmont..

Literally had some of the most fun I’ve had in digital golf in years.

The polish of the crowd/atmosphere sounds and noise with some light Jim Nantz here and there and the scenery and shot set up and variety is really fun.

I had somehow totally forgotten how great these TW games were.

There really is something to be said for a serious, well invested in, career mode and experience, especially when it was done at the budget EA was working with for licenses and likenesses and development overall.

It's really a shame the Rory situation happened and they are done (for now).
