My guess is that it could have something to do with simulator play on the game as PP seem to be pushing this currently with the release of the simulator trial pass.

Exactly my thoughts... I could be wrong, but I am thinking this was a request from a simulator player(s).   After all, good money still to be made in this version of the game.

Well said Dr Rob. I agree with your points. I did criticise the FOV because i still find it should be an optional thing instead of forcing it upon everybody. Apart from a general viewing experience (which is subjective to say the least) I can't find a sound reason to put the cam further back for everybody. But thats my opinion. On everything you mention on the Joneses etc I agree 100%. We are very fortunate to have these guys in the lead and to have this great game at all! -_-

One thing this release and thread have shown me is that there's still a more considerable amount of interest in this game than I'd thought.  We've had 180 replies, and over 4,700 page views in less than seven days.  I was online last night just before 12 AM EST, and there was 84 people in the multiplayer lobby, which is about three times what I'd grown accustomed to seeing at that time of day.

I remain curious if this release has made any difference to those with "mouse slides" when 3C-ing.  Anyone care to comment?

No difference.

Daz,

I'm not sure I understand your comments about the free cam (F5). I know how to use the free cam, but I don't know how to "lock" a position for each shot. Would you elaborate, please. Thank you.

Let's say we are on the 1st tee using default camera. Press F5 and this puts you in free roam mode, so you can move the camera with W, A, S, D or the arrow keys to a new location. For this example, we have moved the camera back from default by 10 yds and raised it slightly to now give a totally new viewing perspective. Press F5 again and the camera view is now locked in position.

You can now take your swing and see it play out from this new location. Once the shot is done you click Continue on the post shot screen and then screen redraws at your new location and you are back with the default cam view. You again have the option to change the view using F5 free roam, cycles through available default camera views using the C key or continue as is.

This was all I was trying to say.

Daz,

Using F5 in this way will give the required view for sure but there is no way my patience is ever going to do this for 30-40+ shots (drives/approaches etc) in every round.  It is bad enough doing it once per round when I am in the trees with no view   I've not yet looked at putting either in this new view.  Life is passing me by too quickly as it is.

This would all become moot if the F5 view setting could remain locked for the round unless the player needed to move the view again for some reason by pressing F5 once more. If this were possible each player could adjust the player view to his liking or accept the default view. I'm guessing it might not be that easy to accomplish or it would be an option.

Though I think I prefer the older, somewhat more intimate view, I have adjusted and moved on. I prefer the follow view for my shots so I get an intimate view of the course and the landing area anyway so it is really not that big a deal.

Now what I would like is a 2018 road map on the state of the game and the status and dev's intentions for PG2. If Mike or AJ could do that I am sure everyone would appreciate such an update on what to expect or look forward to this year.

Yes, I agree, this is why I have mentioned about PP allowing players a custom camera save slot, so you can move the F5 view to the location you require, then save this viewpoint.

I use the arrow keys to move around, but cannot get the roller button on top of my mouse to get up higher.

With fingers crossed I will say that the slide seems better with the re-release. It's still too soon for me to say for sure after just four rounds. I am sure about the new wind model....IT SUCKS MONKEY BALLS.

Don't make light of that idea, the game needs 2-click for full swings at least!

Care to expand on the new wind issues and why it sucks monkey balls?' Is it all of the changes or just certain strengths of wind?

You'd make a good tester, just the sort of detailed feedback game Devs need........  wind sucks monkey balls!

Daz,

I posted a fairly detailed description, back on page 7 of this thread, of what is wrong with the current Wind model.  I'm sure it got looked at by the crowd, but not a single comment.  Monkey Balls gets more attention.  I should've added that to my post.

OK, have tried out and agree, would rather have old view back. Play RTS-M.

Also, have tried playing practice, practice round and solo round with 'windy' to learn. It is showing in all instances as the wind is only between 9-13MPH into my face ALL the time and sometimes I have the flight affected, sometimes not? Tried calm - showed wind fluctuating between 9-11 MPH? Can anyone shed some light on this or advise what other information is required.

Windows 10 Home, version 1703, Intel® Core™ i5-4690 CPU @3.50GHz, 16.0 GB RAM, 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Have attached screen shots

Thank you

This whole new wind system is extremely difficult for me. As posted earlier above, I try and set up a game to practice and learn effect of wind. No matter what setting for windy I put in I only get up to 10 wind speed. Have tried practice range, practice solo play, solo play with gusty, windy and stormy - only get up to 10 MPH wind. play in tournaments and get blown off the course with wind speeds up to 40 and trying to learn effects of wind while in tourney playing RTS, which gives NO feedback on shot, is a joke. Cannot calculate anything or get an understanding as don't know if good shot affected by wind or bad shot or combination. Can someone please give me some feedback as to how to practice?

Removed post..
Confirmed the wind is reacting seemingly as designed after more testing tonight.

Well I for one like the new wind model. The game had become boring to an extent, with low scores continuously being posted across all skill levels. Now you have to think about things again (ie put some effort back into the game). I agree it probably needs tweaking a little for the short game shots but that is all. As for the FOV, doesnt really bother me, in fact I hardly notice it (but I do agree it should be an option for those that dont like it).

I do find it funny though that people constantly demand updates to the game, then when one comes along they berate it within a couple of hours of release. Put some effort in people!

And at the end of the day, the new wind options are exactly that. Options! You dont have to play in 40MPH winds if you dont want to.

For me the game has a new lease of life.

well im ok with the wind also,

sure would be nice to have that 2 or 3 colored ball to see how the wind and spin is effecting the

ball in flight, been asking forever could be a pay to play item, i would give up the price of a course for a custom ball

same property's just a paint job.lol
