PGLS are pleased to announce the forthcoming opening of our initial handicap event, PG Classics, with play commencing on Wednesday 31st January at 00:00 hours GMT. The event runs over a two week period, closing on Monday 12 February at 23:59 hours GMT, and will run each fortnight.

PG Classics will be an event which uses the in-game handicapping system, providing you with scores playing to a handicap as you play, rather than an adjusted strokecard after you complete your round.

HOW TO GET PG CLASSICS INTO YOUR EVENT LIST WHEN IT BEGINS

To add PG Classics to your chosen list of events which show up within the TOURNAMENTS area of Perfect Golf, you should navigate to PGLS Participation and select the event as YES to see it in the events list.

You can make the choice now and be ready for when the event starts in just 5 days time.

Remember to Submit your choice to save the setting.

HOW OUR HANDICAP SYSTEM WORKS, AND HOW TO FIND YOURS

The PG Classics is a non-cut event and plays off of fixed handicaps for the duration of the event, derived from your most recent play in PGLS events, with the 12 most representative of your 24 rounds played most recently before the start of the event being used in the assessment.

Events which work towards your handicap are the PGA9, PGA18, Stableford and PGLS Open. The raw (gross) scoring  data from the PG Classics will also feedback to enhance the handicap calculations.

An example of our handicap is shown here, with scores used to calculate the final handicap shown with a green background, and those not used shown with a red background.

Your own handicap can be found by navigating to our PGLS Handicap area where you will see your uniquely calculated handicap breakdown. To see how your handicap compares with other players, you can look at our
PGLS Handicap Order listing, and click on any member to see their own handicap calculation.

Handicaps can be both positive (where the player is given shots by the course, based on difficulty) or negative (where the player gives shots to the course, based on ease of being able to achieve a good score on a particular hole). Handicaps work where the Stroke Index given to each golf hole rates the difficulty of play, ranking 1 to 18.

Scoring relative to par with the handicaps all takes place within the game itself, and our leaderboards will show your handicapped score, along with the handicap you played the event with. This handicap is fixed during the event, regardless of your other play in PGLS events, so you can be sure that what you began with is what you will play throughout the event.

PG Classics will mix both free user created content and downloadable courses offered by Perfect Parallel through their Pro Shop.

We hope you will get involved and enjoy this new dimension to competition at PGLS.

A good question Dave. Unsure if the issue of playing either has been resolved as yet.

We should be able to provide fair warning of our venues, and so possibly we will have to conduct a straw poll if there is not interchangeability.
