OK, I am having this problem again.  I've stayed at 12 textures to avoid the catastrophe that I had before, yet here I am again (see pic below).

This issue with textures... is it painted textures only?  Or does it include all textures even those that are dragged and dropped onto items?  I am thinking these drag-n-drop textures count differently.  I sure hope so anyway.

Everything was fine up through the work I did last night.  Last night, I used DPR's house builder tool (as I have before) and built a house and saved and then rendered so I could play the hole and look at the house. Everything was fine on that render except for one thing.  Two of my Easy roads that had been finalized were not in the render??? When I opened up Unity, they were there, but not finalized???  Then I got to looking around and I was having more texture issues.

Last night, I did grab a texture from textures.com and I used it on the house I built.  So, maybe that texture threw me over the top?  That doesn't make sense to me, but it was all good until last night???

The progress I lost was terrain elevation and painted texture work only.  The house is still there and looks great, but the terrain work I did a week or so ago was gone.  And, all the painting I did to achieve the look of the course I am recreating.

 Any thoughts?

Check that the easy roads are set to the default layer otherwise they won't show also I notice you have 2 terrains....make sure you working on the correct terrain each time

The problem is with easyroads. Each time you build a road, it will save the terrain and splatmap. If you then go back and edit that road after you have done some painting or sculpting, Easyroads will restore the terrain and splatmap to where it was previously. It is best to finalize the roads before you do any sculpting or painting. I would also suggest to export the terrain via the Perfect Parallel menu after you have done a bunch of work, as it will also save the splatmaps.

If you have finalized roads that do not show up in the build, check to make sure the shader is set to "EasyRoads3D/Diffuse" and not "Road Edit Mode"

Jimbobh, it sounds like this is a known issue and it does make sense to me.  The only thing that is confusing to me is that my easyroads had all been finalized.  I was done with the roads and then all the sudden I wasn't

Splat maps... could adding a second terrain cause the same splatmap issue? I added an OUTERTERRAIN because the LIDAR for my course had a hole right at the edge of the map.  Looking back on it, the issue with easy roads may have happened after that (not sure as I can't remember exactly).

Thanks for taking the time to respond.  I am very frustrated at all the edits I lost and I will make sure I figure out how to export the terrain as you mentioned.

Just click the perfect Parallel menu at the top where you turn on Course Forge and then click backup terrain. and then save as.

You could also check if you have an auto saved terrain in the "Course" folder.

OK.  I was hopeful that easyroads was my problem, but it appears that is something else and I have no idea what it could be???

Yesterday I made sure all my easy roads were finalized before I did any edits.  Today, the edits that I did yesterday are gone.  Its like I never did em.

I never had any problems like this on my first course build.

EDIT:

More strangeness... my brush is painting in a square:
