A search for the best way to import terrain turned up a couple of interesting old posts that may just be another dead end.
One method used the course converter and bing maps which looked very simple, but cannot be found for download.
The second mention which looked similar was terrain importer http://www.perfectparallel.com/files/file/11-terrain-importer/ which looked similar but is a dead end link via the "buy now" button.
Did course converter morph in to terrain builder? The first video linked above using course converter and bing maps is much more streamlined than other methods I've found;it would be nice to find something like this.
Does the newest version of terrain importer https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/terrain/terrain-importer-21223 work with maps within the program like course converter above? Is it even compatible with the version of unity course forge relies on?
Is there anything like this available today? It seems like the course converter would be such a useful method to import terrain, has it actually dies off or been replaced?
I have followed a couple of video tutorials on importing height maps, with mixed results. It just seems as if someone came up with a relatively streamlined, user-friendly option (Course converter) that seems to have evaporated.
Did I miss something obvious?
