I'd like to see an option for Microsoft Links making a resurrection.  They just reacquired the Flight Simulator franchise and are doing some amazing things with it.  If they went after Links again, that could be huge, especially with some of the new technology they're using.

So count that as my vote for other  :)

I think it's a toss up between PG2 releases for TM and TGC 2019/20 releases.  I gave a nod to the latter because of some recent comments from Craig and Shaun in the official forum.  I still think it will be May of next year for it to happen, but I'm also suspecting PG2 to release for Trackman simulator next August/September.

What are the "recent comments" you speak of?

Everyone is completely blindsided as HB Studios releases PG2... causing deep ambivalence throughout the golf video game/sim community

lol!
Actually - you kid - but people on both of the forums have said that a product that marries the strengths of PG and TGC would be pretty incredible.

Two clueless camps don’t make a right.

TM will release a watered down VG2 for TM4 device very soon.

HB will slowly and quietly leave the golf game market....

Those are my predictions.

I really believe this is true.

I think at one point there was going to be TGC2019, then a 2020 version and so on - but maybe the initial sales numbers weren't looking how they wanted them (or needed them with licensing) and they pulled the plug on updates and future versions, barring a big change in direction at some point.

Think you’re right on the low sales. I remember they dropped the price of TGC19 not too long after release. $60 was too much imo. It was more of an update than a new version. Wonder how much that PGA Tour license cost them in profits. As I said earlier, all PGA Tour stuff had to be removed from the simulator version. No Deere Run, etc..

Maybe more evidence is that simulator society tournaments are averaging about 55 participants per week. In comparison to OGTs weekly participation of 110 each of last two weeks. About 30 or so are still playing TGC1 simulator tournaments. Some probably didn’t upgrade as the cost was $395. TGC1 simulator version was $1000. Sales of TGC19 simulator version probably were less than expected too I bet.

I actually had PGA Champ up and running on an older Windows VM last year and other than the graphics, I was blown away at how well it's held up.

That game was really far ahead of its time.

I was only sort of kidding about Microsoft and Links on the poll, but one does wonder (just slightly) how much work it would really take.

I mean look at how good this course looks in the MS Flight Sim 2020 Alpha footage video.

And mind you, this is just here as scenery they don't even care about and it's a photo of a video of the guy watching the video (crap quality basically).

Imagine if a first rate developer truly took a crack at a golf platform.

(I know - I'm drunk and dreaming - but still fun to think about)

It'd be pretty amazing to see MS Golf/Links/whatever back for the next the Xbox and perhaps even with VR.

Everybody's golf VR really showed how awesome a VR golf game could be, and that was really more of a tech demo than a full fledged game.

My "other" vote was actually Microsoft resurrects Links. What is happening with Flight Simulator is simply astonishing, it would be amazing if Links for PC and Xbox were revived using newer tech and game engines available today. Something to dream about anyway...

Who cares!  What happens first is only speculation at this point.  I have had enough speculation on this forum for the last two years.

Agree with Buck here.  Might as well have some fun since, obviously, we will not be hearing about anything to do with PG2 until it happens or it is shelved.  Topics like this at least keep people talking about the future of online golf, if there is one.

I know!  I don't call this fun!  I'm probably getting bitter in my old age.   Plus it is still 90 degree F  here is South Carolina on 3 October.  LOL!

The future of online Golf is why I always wanted a hard copy of the game. At least if we had a hard copy we could let the game live likes Links2003 but without we are done when server is done. If there is no follow-up to TGC 2019 then we might be done as we have to face the fact that the base of video golf is older and most younger people don't play.
