I think Terrain Forge is a bit like Course Forge but for terrain. Could be wrong!😝

It should be either a Unity plug-in or a standalone mini-app (don't know which) that will allow designers to pick, grab and convert real-world terrains from bing maps and import them into Unity without much fuss. Locating an existing golf course and dragging it into Unity, importing it both as a layout image and with the correct 3D terrain elevation data, would become a lot easier and quicker.

It was once called Terrain Importer and later got re-christened to its current, ungainly name. It's current status, I guess, is: dormant.

Really hope this is still in the works.  The demo Andrew did looked very promising.

This will be a game-changer, especially for real courses.

As a Links designer I am reluctant to attempt a real course from scratch in APCD because the elevation data is hard to get without a lot of extracurricular stuff. That's the hard part. The real courses I have done were from plots somebody else did.

I have mentioned this before but am using a very similar program which I downloaded from The Asset Store. It's called World Composer.
It gets excellent reviews too.

I won't build them but I sure will play them.  Looking forward to seeing the PG players/course-designers amass 1000's of courses.

I'm pretty sure the amount of courses won't run into the thousands. I think the whole process of creating courses will be too time consuming for many.

As long as it's easier to use than the Links designer, I'll try to crank a bunch out as soon as I can.

I've been using CF now for a couple of weeks and I've realised that my statement above was incorrect. CF does look a bit intimidating to start with but you can work at a pretty smart pace once you get used to it.

It will still take time for the real high quality work, but not nearly what Links did.

Weeks instead of months.

Like many, I will enjoy the courses as the designers become better and better. Good luck with your learning curves!

A nice 1M lidar data is available for this course.  Also we built it already but they will not give us permission to release it so we will not.  I am sure a user will be along to do it soon though

That is just so Stupid. Just how can releasing a computer version of their course hurt them in  any way IRL.

Maybe we should stop watching their TV broadcasts.  After all, how do we know it is a real course too.

It's just so silly.
