I play with Off/Off which forces me to get better, or die!  Mostly I die!  My buddies all play Max/Max and of course they beat me.  My plan is to gradually shame them into turning off the aids.  Wish me luck.

Good Luck!! :D

I have three players made: 1-max/max...1- mod/mod...1- min/min.
When setting up a game I always try and ask the opponent what difficulty and aids he or she is playing so I can play the same.

Being 68 years old has my reflexes (Hand Eye Coord.) slowing down so I play MAX/MAX.   If the difficulty setting is a big deal to another player then l would expect he/she to kick me.   I can certainly understand such an action.  This game  (for me) is all about fun and friendly competition.  Oh I want to win as well as the next guy.  But just having fun stokes me more.  I play ladder tournaments mostly,  but will play an ocassional challenge match if someone below me makes a challenge.  It is Miller time.  Later! :)

I just felt bad for my pard as all three of them were on max max and striping every tee shot while I was on min min, missing every fairway. I've since switched to max max for online play now so my partner doesn't start with a handicap.

I started with max/max, as I am sure most players did. When I can consistently shoot under par, I will start dialing up the difficulty. As others have stated, it's about having fun. Golf is no fun if you are constantly frustrated, so I will stay at max/max until I am good enough to warrant a change. It's like MS vs 3C...I have tried MS many times on the practice range and I just can't get the hang of it, so I will stay with 3C. Again about having a good time being better than being frustrated. Hell, if I want to get frustrated, I'll go play a real game of golf... :P

I've changed from No Aids to Mod Aids. Got tired of coming in last in the 'Pairwise' rankings (NCAA College Hockey term).
