if you want real courses go play rory mcillory golf . put your own spin on your courses make them your own and unique.
could not agree less with this post, real courses are my absolute first choice. Using a GC2 with real clubs and balls is made all the better playing on these fantastic accurate recreations of real courses.. Keep them coming

Hi everyone,
I went through a couple of pages in this thread. I'm thinking about trying my hand at Unity. I'm wondering what most designers here are using the free version or the Pro version? Also, when Course Forge is released eventually will we still have to use Unity to create the underlying framework or will Unity be incorporated into the design mechanic? Thank you to those that take the time to reply.

We use the free version. Course Forge is a Unity add-on, so you will have to rely on Unity even after the release.

I downloaded unity yesterday, spent 20 minutes looking at it and then went to play Augusta on 14 stimp for some light entertainment.

@_buck...
For a real course I usually decide which course
Then search the internet for as much information and photo's of the course as I can find
The big help is Terrain Forge and the 1m Lidar data...its very accurate
I then just try to copy what I see best I can

RobC, you are so good at this type course! Have you ever considered doing the Streamsong courses (a.k.a. Bandon South)?

Simply beautiful. You are owning these seaside designs. I have been toying with heather (she's quite the viagra) and love wandering through courses like yours for ideas. It seems most stock things are either too bright or dark at the base. It appears that the "magic" is in matching a splatmap texture with a grass color to pull off the realism.
