I am definitely in need of some upgrades.  My meager set up almost chokes to death on the Alpha build, even on low settings.

I can run TW's 08 options all on very high and it runs smooth as silk, this one I too am having a little stuttering no matter what setting I use.. I have a middle of the road card and should have no trouble here but I am...  Also in 08 it has much grass and weeds and still runs beautiful.

Done with designing.

I am waiting to upgrade my PC until we are told what sort of specification we will need to run the game/course designer efficiently. Unless I have missed this somewhere and it is already on the site?

I think the plan was to have some form of playable game available by Winter 2013, but not a finished product. Then a full final game release by mid 2014.

I'm guessing these dates will be changing as time goes on. I think SLIPPAGE is the industry term (fans of the Gran Turismo series on Playstation will be well familiar with it, lol).

It's now August and we have only recently had the ALPHA physics build, so I guess the actual game, with moving animations etc. is still a long, long way off, unless someone from PP cares to tell us any different.

Forgive me for stating something I can't recall where I saw.. unlike me and I will delve into discovering my source on this site somewhere.

Exactly as Daz states though, although I really can't speak for what these guys here at PP have scheduled. I know other Devs usually release a Beta for an average 3 months, sometimes longer etc.

I'll wait as long as needs be, but the one main gripe I have is the lack of any feedback from the developers on a regular basis.

They didn't let us know there were delays with Course Forge and Terrain Importer due to migrating the development machines over to Unity 4 until the question got asked. Ian D came up with a fine idea (resurrecting an old LinksCorner ritual - the Weekend Warrior). I'm getting to the point where I'm thinking about limiting my visits here to maybe once per fortnight, as the cupboard containing any updates seems to be padlocked shut.

Why is it so hard for someone at PP to drop by the forums, if only once per week and just give us all a brief overview of what is happening and where things are at. Don't want paragraphs of detail and 500 word explanations, just a handful of bullet pointed updates would suffice.

Is this really too much to ask?

;)

To an extent they do drop in, albeit to discuss issues that begin arising within the threads. It's always great to hear from Mike, and yes this is a little complimentary, but this guy has some serious talent. For him to take time here, knowing what I know he can achieve, makes me feel guilty we're losing something elsewhere lol. I hope not, and enjoy his comments.. Andrew I don't know, but would enjoy hearing more from.

Like many of us here, we don't know how PP is setup and what other goals they are seeking to achieve and complete, prior to the PG release.

If the WW suggestion isn't one that can be achieved, maybe a simpler option of adding something visual... almost like a progress bar or loading icon depicting a percentage until complete etc.. or something golf related etc.. maybe ;

I did check the Moderating Team and see we have a numerous list of Admin upon the site. Good to see numbers naturally, and we'll all wonder who and what they all do etc, but maybe one is able to front the Updates. Maybe even consider adding to that team, someone that can ensure the various media promoting the game is supported with content that encourages activity ? With the PGA Season not having long left, golf will begin dropping off peoples vision and this isn't something I recommend allowing (who am I lol). But, keeping a ball rolling, even with minimal momentum, is better than seeing it stuck in rough awaiting a recovery shot. Ooh, get me..lol!

lol.. nice Deena..

I think I'd actually prefer a Golf theme though.. maybe even descriptive.. such as the cartpaths are complete on the 16th Hole, but the hazards and planting have yet to be done.

I think you'll find that's a fully operational Death Star - like this one:

I recall a discussion regarding the Death Star from the movie "Clerks"; definitely a different and sobering perspective:

Randal Graves: [talking about the second Death Star] A construction job of that magnitude would require a helluva lot more manpower than the Imperial army had to offer. I'll bet there were independent contractors working on that thing: plumbers, aluminum siders, roofers.

Dante Hicks: Not just Imperials, is what you're getting at...

Randal Graves: Exactly. In order to get it built quickly and quietly they'd hire anybody who could do the job. Do you think the average storm trooper knows how to install a toilet main? All they know is killing and white uniforms.

Dante Hicks: All right, so even if independent contractors are working on the Death Star, why are you uneasy with its destruction?

Randal Graves: All those innocent contractors hired to do a job were killed - casualties of a war they had nothing to do with.

[notices Dante's confusion]

Randal Graves: All right, look-you're a roofer, and some juicy government contract comes your way; you got the wife and kids and the two-story in suburbia - this is a government contract, which means all sorts of benefits. All of a sudden these left-wing militants blast you with lasers and wipe out everyone within a three-mile radius. You didn't ask for that. You have no personal politics. You're just trying to scrape out a living.

I think the snow is starting to let up!

Lols, thanks for the fun guys - we used to have a name for those flowers, snowballs or something, but very funny in the way of a death star comparison, lols!!

They say a place is only as good as its people so perhaps this forum is being built along with the game?? perhaps by the time it's released we'll boast a community of 1000's and not one patronising, condescending, sensationalist personality to be seen anywhere on its walls???

- I'll be a realist and take 95% then!! just as long as the rest are so good as they are now  :)
