Long time follower of this, but I know my laptop won't play it . Why? Tried the golf club and couldn't even play on the lowest resolutions. What laptop can I look into purchasing that might play this awesome game ?

Secondly , thanks for bringing this out. I will try all options I can to get a unit to play this

Go to Best Buy.  Tell them you want a gaming desktop.  Forget about a laptop.  Get one with an Nvidia graphics card.  Like a 970.  This game will be smooth as butter.  Laptops, IMO, are not for games.

I have a 4/5 year old laptop  that wont play the golf club but with everything  on minimum and lower screen size I can  play PG.  Graphics aren't great  but I can play.

HP Pavilion AMD Turion  Dual core 2.6ghz integrated Radeon  HD 4500 graphics 4 mb ram. DX10

If your going to get a new machine in the future anyway why not  buy PG at its reduced Early access  price and see if it will work on your laptop ,  If not You can always load it onto your new machine whether thats a laptop or desktop later.   

 

PS If thats your laptop specs above then thats a better system than mine.  You should be able to run  PG on Low settings as long as you have dx9 or above  .  Mind be warned once you get hooked youll still want to upgrade   like I did.   Went for a desktop  because its a lot cheaper than  similar  powered Laptops

I know of at least one dev who plays PG on a gaming laptop although a bit more expensive than a similar powered desktop. I have a 6 year old desktop (see specs below) with almost all settings set to lowest and windowed - fps usually between 25-30 but still enjoying game. I guess the biggest problem with those low settings is when approaching greens I use BLI to get the layout and sometimes not very clear (and trees look like blobs lol). But otherwise ...

If you're looking for a laptop I can personally tell you that the Asus Republic of gaming laptops are great. I just recently purchased one myself. This is the one I purchased Asus ROG G751 JT-CH71. It has a Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M graphics card with 3 gigs of memory.I can run TGC On high 1920 x 1080 @fps 60. Here on perfect golf I run ultrahigh with all the sliders all the way to the right 1920 x 1080 and for the most part my frame rate is anywhere from 60 upwards to mid-hundreds depending on the background.

 

Also one of my friends has the Asus ROG GL551 JW DS71. It has a Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics card with 2 gigs of memory.He plays on both games as well on high settings with no problems.

I agree with Justin, my Asus ROG G750-jx laptop is more than sufficient for PG. You could even get away with a Lenovo y series that can be had for around $800.....the ASUS ROG's start at over $1000.

I loaded it up .. And moved it down to 800x600. Range was playable but didn't look great but it does work but still kinda choppy. The default 1024x800 looked real good but was almost unplayable.

Really like this game what I read and saw on YouTube. Will look around at laptops today that you listed

Or at least that's what I think it is. If it does not sound right tell me how to find out please.

 

I can not play PP Golf on it, or at least The animation of the swing (very slow/hesitant motion) does not allow me too.

 

Is it the way I have the options set or the computer stats itself?

 

You can see my home desktop stats below (which play the game superbly), but when I'm away, three months up in Chicago for the summer, I would like to play a bit on the laptop.

That model uses an on-board graphics chip as opposed to a separate video card.  I suspect that is the most likely reason you can't really play PG on it.

I use a Lenovo Y50. This one has a GTX 860M 4GB Video Card and 16GB Ram. It has an i7-4710HQ processor.

I bought it last September from John Lewis in the UK. It plays this on Ultra High settings...today I had to turn down the settings a bit on Florida Glades (don't normally have trouble...but today was weird and the framerate was badly affecting my motion swing)

Cost me £950. Having always used Macs I was skeptical about PCs but I was ready to move up from console gaming. Have to say, I love this machine and whilst it was pricey it was definitely worth it.

i get that many on here have laptops or desktops capable of playing this game, and many are playing with graphics turned all the way down. I just don't see how a game like this can go mainstream in today's world where gaming computers aren't all that common. 

 

I'd love to play this game, but i bought a laptop 4-5 years ago. I'm also not a techie who knows how to replace graphics cards and update ram. i know i have 4gb ram and that is plenty for anything i want to do on my computer other than game. so should i go to best Buy, request a gaming computer, throw down 1000+ for this game. its not happening. i don't know any of my friends who play video games on their computer. i get that a lot do, but many more don't...and they sure as heck don't know the type of graphics card they have. but they all love golf, and would play this game in a second if they were able. 

 

so for now its wait it out, maybe one day i'll see the need for a new computer, or we'll get lucky and this game will somehow be brought to consoles where courses can be transferred from console to pc or vise versa. 

 

i see all the time on other golf forums people talking about golf games and are always disappointed. the new rory ea game is huge disappointment. TGC is so-so. Perfect Golf isn't even in the conversation and it won't be until its out on console. pc gamers will talk about how pc's are superior. i get that, its just that the gaming world has moved away from the pc. if i want to play madden, project cars, mlb the show, i'm not using a pc. sports game lovers who are exactly the market for this game are seldom the type of gamers who play on the pc. 

 

i'll continue to follow threads occasionally, watch few youtube videos, and see where this game goes, but doubtful i'll ever be able to play as i don't see myself buying gaming pc anytime soon, although the MS Surface (tablet) looks interesting.

Finally got this to play decent. Turned graphics down but still playable

A great game, looks a lot like PGA championship golf 2000 with my graphics now. Which is fine by me

Memory and processor looks fine, but no info, in that screenshot, regarding the graphics card. Also, since it's a laptop, the video will integrated and not updatable. I'd recommend spending those dollars on a good desktop with a good graphics card.

According to the specs on Best Buy it has a GeForce GTX 965M which is 2 GB of video memory. Which will work fine for perfect golf. One of my friends has the 960M and he runs the golf club and perfect Both on high graphics.

 

Unless you really want a touchscreen check out this one from Amazon. It comes from New York so if you don't live there you save on the tax.
