I have swapped the trees out on this due to unity starting to slow, you have to use more firs to help fill the plot so by using more bushy trees you can use less in total, anyway it's running better now, few pics of the new change. Bit of an autumn theme going on here...got 10 holes complete, should not be too long to finish.

something i'm working on

This is looking really lovely Dogz.
If you want to work on the terrain and hide the trees you can do that by going into the terrain inspector and switching the trees off. Also check your triangle count in the stats tab of the game window, in all views it should stay under 3 million or so so keep it playing smoothly in PerfectGolf.

Like the look of 2nd pic from behind the tee. Looks like premium on finding fairways round this one.
Great work D.

thanks mike, switching the trees off would be a massive plus, how exactly do i do that? Daz that 2nd pic makes the fairway look tighter than it is trust me, some of the shorter par 4's are tight but there,s reward for the brave.

Go to your terrain settings (cog icon outside on the right), untick the little box that says "Draw" in the "Tree and Detail Objects" section. Ka-Boom... all plants are switched off.

I just hope its fun to play, that's my main aim, the pics always look better than in game because you can pick any angle until you get a nice looking shot, you get what view your given in game, sometimes it's a nice view other times it's bog standard, the proof will be in the playing i guess.

Dogs if its a quarter as good on the course as it is in the Pics Im sure it will be a good un.
Having followed all the threads I know youve only had course forge a few weeks and this is your first course. The only person who may be dissapointed in it will be yourself because you'll be chomping at the bit to have more resources, textures assets or whatever is needed but the rest of us will be more than happy.
Ok can I ask how difficult have you found it ( yes I know youve had experience at course creation at TGC) How much of Unity did you need to learn if any. With the basic pack given to you by PG how high a quality course can be designed. Sorry to be a pain just wondering whether to wait till Course forge is released or knuckle down and try to understand Unity.
Oh yes Im asking from the viewpoint of creating fictional courses from scratch rather than importing real world map data or trying to replicate real courses.
Thanks Jim

It's looking really good DoGgz.
Question, once you have a course made and you want to share it with others how will that be done?

I would imagine i could put it on google drive and supply a link for people to download it, or put it thru drop box there are a few prgrams out there that allow this kinda thing.

Hi Jim,
My experience with unity is non existent lol never used it or seen it before CF I am getting to grips with manipulating the terrain a bit, but as far as creating a brand new plot i have no idea, i'm just using the pre made plot that mike supplied and molding it to suit my needs, it's like anything else, once you get used to what tool does what and to what extent you start getting a feel for it, the trick then is turning it into an enjoyable track that looks inviting yet still feels authentic...thats the hard part for me right now, the nuances of unity will come in time i'm sure.

Thanks Dog.
That clears a few things up in my mind. A premade plot would be more than adequate to get me started for what I have in mind. Think Ill start designing on paper first ready for Course Forge. Unity can wait until the Great British Summer is over and winter begins. Oops thats in about 3 weeks time
Looking forward to seeing your course even if its just one of your Videos until its released.

@Dogz I'm looking at the screenshot in post #50. How does what is reflected in the water correspond to the surrounding terrain? It doesn't seem to match up (at least to me).

13 and 14 look great. Is there any kind of bunker lip? Hard to tell from the screenshots. Again, looking superb, Dogz!
