To continue on my series of older US Open Golf Clubs I have now commenced Merion.

Clubhouse is underway..... and the journey begins again

I plan to give this course the full treatment and hope to have it available once PP goes public.

Good choice Slewin. Also in Links this is an ace course.

Hi Scott,

Are you doing Oakmont for PG?  Your Links version was stupendous.

The Links version was one of my favorites and Merion is truly one of the great US Open venues we have.  Great to see you will do this and as always looking forward to someday playing this great course on PG.

Hopefully the devs come up with a way to allow for wicker baskets :)

Stunning! Love the elevation looks. Lot's of eye candy here. This is going to be a winner in my book. Once fully 'clothed' this course is going to be something to behold. Beautiful work Slewin. Can't wait for the final version!

Are those power cart 'tracks' in the rough on the left side of the fairway as we see it in the above photo?  Looks very good.  :D

Looking spectacular, Scott!  Wonderful design work and the feeling of actually being on the course... wow, I'm FEELIN' it!

And if you're seeking feedback on those first two screenshots posted, I'd choose the second over the first in regard to tree colors. Looks amazing!  :)

Looks fantastic Scott, and the 3D makes it look even more immersive than the excellent production we had back in Links2K3.

Very much like the sand particle effect at the bunker edges to give it that less than pristine look. Colour palate looks very good indeed when compared to real vistas, and the start you have made with course furniture, markers and hard landscaping (especially the service road and the now correctly-sized flagpole) look great. Will be interested to see how the green complexes play as I have the impression of severe breaks abounding, and think it would be a crime to tame them.

Very much looking forward to seeing this, along with Oakmont. Really appreciate your work along with that of all those out there making courses which they aim to release for distribution when the time is right.

Just a fantastic looking course already. These great old U.S. Open courses are a staple of World golf and really looking forward to one day playing them in this game. Fantastic job.

Thanks for the feedback. I am planning to concentrate on older courses particularly in the US as that's where all the good data exists.

As I said earlier Oakmont will be next then I am open to requests provided I can locate good Lidar data.

It's a shame that speedtree won't allow sharing of trees as I now have 100's of trees that would greatly benefit everyone. I will however share some 3D models etc... at some point.

Is there a possibility you could do Firestone South?  It is one of my very favorite Links courses.

Merion Golf Club is now ready for testing next week. Its been a long and intense few months to get it here but hopefully the work has paid off.

At around 6700 yards from the members tee Merion is not long but for those who enjoy a challenge I have also added championship tees that represent the US Open yardages and boy is it tough. The 4 difficult pins will also be the 4 hole locations that were used for the Open that are tucked away in all the corners.

Expect this to be available to the public in about 2 weeks given no big problems in testing then its onto Augusta!!
